Our season is currently on life support after the last 2 weeks

Lose this week and IMHO the season is shot and wasted

Greiser out as well.

Knoll has done her ACL at training.

What a trainwreck of a season injury-wise.

The latest injury update from High Performance Manager Eliza Morrison.

Richmond AFLW Injury List:

Rebecca Miller, finger

Gabby Seymour, hamstring soreness

Sarah Hosking, hamstring

Unavailable

Jess Hosking, syndesmosis (4-6 weeks)

Sarah D’Arcy, hamstring (2-3 weeks)

Ellie McKenzie, ankle (3-4 weeks)

Shelby Knoll, ACL

"Suffered an injury following a knee collision injury at training last week. It has been confirmed through scans that Shelby has unfortunately torn her anterior cruciate ligament."

Caitlin Greiser, thumb

"Fractured her thumb during our Round 6 game against Gold Coast. She is meeting with the surgeon later this week to confirm her management and return to play plan."

Ellie McKenzie, ankle

"Fibula fracture is healing well and we are hoping to start her with some drilling and running in the coming weeks."

Sarah D’Arcy, hamstring

"Sarah D’Arcy is tracking great. She is back running and we are hoping that she continues to progress through stages to be available for selection in 2-3 weeks."

Charley Ryan, glandular fever

"Unfortunately Charley has glandular fever and is working with our medical team to plan a conservative return to football."

Jess Hosking, syndesmosis

"Recovering as expected from surgery. Back in the gym and rehabbing well."

Katie Brennan's presser today:

https://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/1450987/its-such-a-privilege-brennan

---------------------------------------------

Skipper Katie Brennan said it was "huge advantage" to have the trio return.

"They're three of our leaders coming in, which is huge for us across all lines," Brennan said.

"Bec is a general down back, her leadership down there is first-class, and Sarah and Gabby in the middle, they really set the tone for us."

Brennan said it was "a privilege and a great honour" to be part of the annual Dreamtime clash.

"We're absolutely pumped, it's going to be an amazing occasion," she said.

"We've also got our own Stephy Williams, who was our first Indigenous player to design the guernsey this year, and such traditions and family history has gone into this design.

"It's been such a great process to learn more about her story and culture and tradition."

After two tough losses in a row against Fremantle and Gold Coast, Brennan said the Tigers were hungry to get back on the winners' list this weekend.

"Essendon are in red-hot form," she said.

"It's going to take our very best to compete with them during the process of the game, and that's what we're looking to do, to really compete in every moment."

Full R7 preview: Richmond v Essendon

By Gemma Bastiani

14 October 2023

In the second ever AFLW Dreamtime match, both Richmond and Essendon will be looking to solidify a chance at finals under the lights of Ikon Park on Saturday evening. The Tigers, thanks to injury, are sputtering in a season that initially had so much promise. Now with key forward Caitlin Greiser and winger Beth Lynch unavailable through injury and suspension respectively, options have become even more limited for coach Ryan Ferguson. While they certainly have plenty of spirit, and have regularly found an extra gear in final quarters, it's starting to become too big a hill for the Tigers to climb.

Essendon, however, wants to play possession footy, still with strength on the inside thanks to the likes of Maddy Prespakis and Georgia Nanscawen, but more effectively finding those outside options like Brooke Walker and Georgia Gee. Coach Natalie Wood has given the forwards more freedom to roam higher up the field to support, with knowledge that they will work hard back into the attacking line when the ball has been won.

Tip: The Bombers will entrench themselves in the top eight. Essendon by 18 points.

Sarah Hosking out of the middle. Brennan gathers the loose ball at HF and kicks quickly to the hot spot. Yassir wins the crumb and goals  :gotigers

Seymour at HB to Brennan on the wing to Conti at HF. Goes to the hot spot and Yassir gets the free for a push in the back. Set shot from 35 is a goal  :gotigers.
