CORNES PREDICTS TIGERS TO SLIDE IN 2024 AFTER QUIET TRADE PERIOD

Paddy Sinnott
SEN
18 October 2023

Kane Cornes has questioned Richmond’s quiet off-season so far, warning their lack of list changes may lead to a bottom-four finish in 2024.

After finishing 13th this year in a disappointing campaign, the Tigers have failed to involve themselves in the trade period, with Ivan Soldo’s move to Port Adelaide the only real activity so far.

Richmond also lack a strong draft hand despite their ladder position, with their first selection being pick 29.

“Richmond have done nothing,” Cornes told AFL Trade Radio’s The Early Trade.

“(They) haven’t improved their list at all and if they lose Soldo, there’s a good backup player gone.

“(They) haven’t improved their draft hand, haven’t improved their playing stocks.”

Cornes also highlighted the concerning injuries the Tigers experienced this year, with Tom Lynch missing the majority of the season with a foot injury that still hasn’t fully recovered.

“They’ve got some real injury concerns over Tom Lynch and (Josh) Gibcus, long-term injuries,” he said.

“Those players don’t appear ready to go for day one of pre-season, which will be a significant concern for them.”

After losing club legends Jack Riewoldt and Trent Cotchin, alongside three-time premiership coach Damien Hardwick, it seems new coach Adem Yze has a long road ahead of him to make Richmond contenders once again.

“They’ve got bottom four written all over them next year,” Cornes said.

I posted this on the other Cornes thread but it might be worth leaving it here as well to assure everyone we should take what Cornes says with a grain of salt...he's rarely right and, mostly, he's very wrong:

Kane Cornes’ BIGGEST 2017 AFL predictions

NOT TEAMS

Richmond

“The most scrutinised team in the competition was again disappointing in 2016, winning only eight games. Under-fire coach Damien Hardwick needs a finals berth to save his job at the Tigers…

“Richmond will find it difficult to find multiple avenues towards goal next year and the lack of stars coming through is a concern.”

Karen Cornehole is a halfwit - I’d rather bleach my own ahole than listen or read anything he has to say
