FB:  Grimes - Gaspar - Vlastuin. Only two options for F/B Gaspar and Astbury just think Gaspar the better player despite his kicking.

HB: Cameron - Rance - Broad.  The Vlastuin and Broad spots a toss up with Newman Houli and Bowden.

C;  Deledio - Cotchin - D Rioli. Wing is an area where we have been average. If they played there they would have been great wingers. Its the only position where i haven't picked players in their actual position. Knob or not Deledio is easily one of the best players we have produced.

R:  Ottens - Martin - Prestia.   Like it or not Ottens was a far superior player than Nankervis. Prestia and Dusty in particular speak for themselves.

HF: N Brown - Riewoldt - Richardson. Brown Just about the classiest sml fwd we have had. Richo,s athleticism means he could play any position in the fwd half

FF: Bolton - Lynch - Edwards.  We have not produced many goal kicking small forwards Bolton is the most prolific imo. Edwards was more a mid imo and not a prolific  goal kicker but did play both roles well. Really good players to have as part of rotations.

Int: Bowden - Campbell - Foley - Knights and Taranto. Only one season but Taranto is about the best inside mid we have had. Campbell Bowden and Foley were were super consistent players and Knights did play for us in the 2000'sGiven that he probably should be in the guts.

FOLEY! man talk about a player who we mismanaged with injuries. Was a monster clearance player at his peak. Deserved to be played in 2013 over petard when his body was still doing ok

I still remember watching training leading into Round 1, 2009. Foley had hurt his ankle/foot in our last preseason game and could barely walk two days out from the season opener. Yet, we still played him out of desperation in Plough's final year of his contract :P

Foley was outstanding in 2007 and made the state team but he never reached those levels again. More a solid player IMO when he wasn't injured.

Lot of laughter there mate are you losing it.

No one  can argue that ottens was a better player than Nankervis your kidding yourself otherwise.
The trouble with tiger supporters is they see a player leave and all of a sudden he is no good.

He is one of the better ruck/fwds of the century and he played for us winning an A/A guernsey. But nope he rightly went to another club for some success and he becomes a pariah. Sometimes people need to take the blinkers off.

Yep Taranto is a stretch being there just one year but he is one hell of a inside player better than most we have had already.

But hey keep laughing if it gets you over your short sightedness.

I’ll say this

IT’S A TEAM FOR THIS CENTURY

2023 Taranto is clearly better than 2000, 2001 Matthew Knights

Anyone that says otherwise is in fantasy land

Well said Damo. Yes it is a team of this Century good of you to point out Knights qualifies.  Taranto 2023  is clearly better than Knights 2000 - 2002. But knights 2000 - 2002 is better than most in contentention hence both should get a gig in my book..

Always wondered how we would've gone if Cogs, Brown & Foley had never had those injuries. :shh

The problem with that side was it was filled with enabled, selfish players who would’ve gotten into the way of team success. As talented as that group were, their managers had a field day cliffing the club into paying too much money.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Did foley try and bend over the club with money? I thought he was quite selfless in the yellow and black and also when he wore the big V!
