Mykelti Lefau will miss 4-6 weeks with a calf issue that saw him subbed out of yesterday’s 68 point loss to Adelaide.

A cruel blow in his first game back from a ruptured ACL, but a return in 2025 remains on the cards.

Yeah nah this time it was the fault of the idiot coach chucking him the ruck. #interimadem. :shh

Yeh well noted dio. What in the actual f was he rucking for. Balta should have been the second option from the get go. Wasn't a good option regardless of the calf injury.
Agree 100%. I didn't see the game but if they put Lefau in the ruck they are pretty stupid.
I'm all in for using Balta as a ruckman. Give him more and more opportunities and minutes now whilst we can.  :clapping

Lefau 'all in' on 2026 hopes

Mykelti Lefau is using his injury setbacks as motivation to crack back into Richmond's best line-up.

As the 2026 season quickly approaches, Mykelti Lefau knows he finally has an uninterrupted chance to prove himself in a budding Richmond forward line.

After being sidelined for half of his debut season and almost all of last year, the 27-year-old is ready for a crack at cementing a spot in attack

Reduced to just one game last season at AFL level on return from his ACL injury, in which he injured his calf, you'd forgive the key forward for potentially losing some drive and love of the game.

"It was a tough year, I was off for a bit with the injuries," Lefau told Channel 7.

But Lefau refused to let his latest injury setback stop him from getting fit and going again in 2026.

In fact, it's given the 11-gamer a chance to work closely with veteran Richmond forward, Tom Lynch, on becoming a more dynamic force in front of goal.

"It gives you the time to fine-tune the things you really need to work on," Lefau said.

"Especially for me, a developing player in the AFL system, you just get to learn around the boys like Lynchy, just watching extra vision."

For Lefau, who was picked up on the eve of the 2024 season via the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP), he is utilising his extended time away from the main stage to draw inspiration from the beginning of his career.

"The first year as an SSP, I was cracking in and I left no stone unturned," he said.

"To be back in that position to fight for my spot again, it's really good."

As for what lies ahead for the Tigers, Lefau is "all in" for what promises to be an exciting season.

"There's going to be no pressure, but everyone's seen from (Adem) Yze that we want to go all in this season. That's our focus for the season, going all in and playing how we want to play," he said.

Far out. Double the limit is shocking.

After all his hard work what an awful choice.

We aren't the sun of all our mistakes but this could be so costly do a guy who needs a bit of luck to keep his career going. You don't need to be making these dumb choices to put things at risk.
Go Tigers!

To be fair, I needed a drink after watching the last 3 qtrs.

It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

2 games is just a slap on the wrist. Incredibly light .

I would have given him 4 weeks for the crime and an additional 6 weeks for being stupid .

I’ve been a Mykelti fan and was looking forward to seeing what he had to offer this year .

Now , I’d rather see someone like Fawcett given a go .

Yep. Unprofessional and been around long enough surely to know better. We lose nothing here and I quite liked the way Fawcett attacked a couple of those long balls inside 50. Let’s put him in the ruck and see what he can do.
