One thing's for sure it was good 5-6 years before we saw Shank pull off anything like that 60 metre kick to Faull. Shame Pat Cummins Jr. dropped the sitter.  :shh

Not sure how relevant the one sided thing is.
There are countless players past and present who have that as a limitation. Seems to be a easy slap at a left footer.
Agree Dio on that pass. Don’t reckon Jonty realise a tracer bullet can impact the chest from 60m but reckon he knows that now!
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Young Tiger pair on the rise
Kane McAuliffe and Kaleb Smith both had strong games on Friday night.

While there is plenty of focus on Richmond’s recent rich national draft haul, with six of the first 23 picks in 2024, and the class of 2021, where the Club had five selections inside the top 30, two Tiger picks in the 40s are starting to show some promising signs at senior level.

Kane McAuliffe, who was recruited by Richmond with its first pick (No. 40 overall) in the 2023 national draft and Kaleb Smith, the Club’s first pick (No. 49 overall) in the 2022 draft, were impressive in last Friday night’s Dreamtime at the ‘G clash.

McAuliffe returned to senior action for the Tigers three weeks ago and has grabbed his opportunity with both hands.

The 20-year-old, left-foot midfielder is averaging 18.3 disposals, 6.3 contested possessions, 3.7 marks, 6.0 tackles, 3.0 inside-50s, 3.7 intercepts, 4.7 score involvements and 225.3 metres gained in his three games at AFL level this season.

He has collected 20 disposals-plus the past two games – 22 v North Melbourne in Round 10 and 21 v Essendon in Round 11.

Along with the 21 disposals against the Bombers, he also had six marks, a team-high six tackles, five intercepts, five score involvements and 189 metres gained.

Cant wait until he starts to transition from inside to out more at the level. Then we will see a player.

Impressive McAuliffe "fit and ready" for 2026

Hard-nosed midfielder Kane McAuliffe has gone from strength to strength in “injury-free” pre-season.

Despite going down to Essendon in Friday's match simulation, Richmond can take plenty of positives from an impressive performance by young gun Kane McAuliffe.

The 20-year-old dominated through the centre of the ground and on the wing, dishing up several inside-50 entries from centre clearances.

After enduring an injury-riddled season in 2025 with only five AFL appearances, McAuliffe is confident in his preparation, labelling it his best pre-season yet.

“It’s been a good pre-season,” McAuliffe said.

“It's been my first time at the Club injury-free, which has been nice, so I’m just feeling fit and ready to get into the season.

“I’m just starting to learn a bit of the wing, a bit of inside mid, so it's been a good balance so far. It's a great young group through the midfield, and everyone works well together.

“We do heaps of reviews together, and I feel like we're really close as a line, so looking forward to the season.”

McAuliffe is confident his team will build on Friday's hit-out, taking learning’s into the AAMI Community Series match against Melbourne in Ballarat next Friday at 4:15pm (AEDT).
