I don't get RCD vibes from Smillie.

Smillie has been talked about anywhere from P1-5 most of the year for good reason.

RCD was taken at P20 in a shallower draft.

Plus RCD was taken as more of a project, not ready made, always a risk, but one we could afford at the time, being in the premiership window.

That's a fabrication. He was a decent junior that didn't come on whatsoever. Not a project at all

Agree AT, definitely not a project player

I would have liked to see RCD fpgiven a go with a new coach, think he may have thrived

Have spoke to Chutney many times about RCD and Chut has always said the same thing,  kid never stood a chance with Dimma at he helm. Wasn't a Dimma fav
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

If we took RCD at pick 20 as a project player that shows very poor judgement.

Project players should be much later in the draft not the first round.

Agreed.

Got half the chances Dow has so far, and IMO showed more.

May be the case, but he hasn't dominated state league footy either since leaving

My understanding was after missing out on Fyfe and the 190cm+ midfielders (Cripps, Pendlebury, Fyfe and bont) being all the rage, we picked rcd to try and fit that mould. In an ideal world we would have been able to nab Tom green. Damn those academy rules

Depends on the logic. Some might argue Rance was a project player - came in at roughly the same pick, has some great attributes but needed work and developed over time. Took him what 3 or so seasons to start making his mark and then kablama tango
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Sharp-shooting and ‘big mark’ young guns dream of: Meet the AFL Draft’s prized forward pick - Jobe Shanahan

After bursting onto the VFL scene at barely 18 years of age, Jobe Shanahan is ready to “crack in early” with whichever AFL club is lucky enough to select him in this year’s draft.

Standing at 195cm with a contested mark most young key forwards dream of, the Moama product is shaping as one of, if not the first key forward, to be picked up next week.

Describing himself as a centre-half forward who “crashes packs, takes big marks (and is) a pretty good set shot” — it’s no surprise there is an air of confidence that comes with Shanahan’s presence.

Speaking with foxfooty.com.au’s Ben Waterworth in the lead up to the national draft, Shanahan believes his game has developed considerably throughout 2024 — which in the end allowed for senior opportunities alongside AFL stars.

I always find this fascinating who gets invited. No way Marshall goes top 20. Hotton should be there.

Big fan of Job.

If we miss out on Jobe and Harry I'll find it very hard to be happy with our draft hail. Would have to have some worldie sliders to be OK without at least 1 of these boys.

According Callum Twomey on Gettable:

https://www.afl.com.au/video/1255348

* Crows most likely to jump up to pick 2 if it happens.

* We won't be jumping up. More likely to jump out with our later picks. Could trade pick 24 (first of 2nd night) for a future 1st from a top club. With all our departures though we'll need to use most of our picks to fill our list back up.

* Pick 1 between Lalor and FOS with Jagga Smith an outsider. Twomey hasn't ruled out FOS at pick 1.

* Smillie linked to us at pick 6 according to every other club. Could slip to pick 10.

* Unlikely Bo Allen getting to the Eagles at pick 12. We're seen as a home for Allen. Could even grab him at pick 6 hoping then to grab Smillie at 10.

* Jagga Smith won't get past us if he's still on the board.

* We're not strongly linked to Draper even if he fell to pick 6.

* Shanahan linked to us at picks 10-11.

* Armstrong a chance at pick 10-11.

* Wouldn't be shocked if Jack Whitlock is called out by us at pick 10-11.

* We've done our work on Tauru.

* We may bid on Lombard and/or Kako at 10-11.

* Langford in the range 2-7.

* Travaglia in the range 8-15.

* Trainor - top 20 mark. Us, Swans or Dogs.

* Hotton - around our picks 18-24 mark.

* Faull - another around our pick 18 amongst other clubs in that range.

* We like Joe Berry but that will more from pick 18 onwards.

* Dattoli within our range last first round. First night prospect.

* Harry Oliver - we may look at him at either pick 20, 23 or 24 if we keep those picks.

* Dodson linked to us because others think with 8 picks we'll spread out choice of positions and go for a ruck at 24.

Why the stuff would we trade pick 24 to a top club for a future first which essentially is the same pick in a standard draft. Give me a break.

Trade with north is what I'm hoping. Give them pick 11 or 18. For 2 and next yrs 1st.

What has happened to this deal as it appears it's gone cold according these so called experts
