the pre-season draft (PSD) and rookie draft will take place on Friday afternoon from 2.55pm AEDT, which you can watch exclusively live on AFL.com.au and the AFL Live app.

Ten clubs have already shown part of their hand for Friday's drafting, having made commitments to recently delisted players to pick them up again as rookies.

Among them are Hawthorn triple premiership player Jack Gunston, Collingwood defender Oleg Markov, Greater Western Sydney veteran Lachie Keeffe and Brisbane defender Darragh Joyce.

It's part of a growing trend where clubs delist players to open list spots (clubs must have at least three senior list vacancies in order to take part in the national draft) before re-drafting them as rookies.

Chris Burgess, Harry Schoenberg (both Adelaide), Darcy Craven (Brisbane), Ash Johnson (Collingwood), Max Knobel (Fremantle), Josh Fahey, Jacob Wehr (both Greater Western Sydney), Toby Pink (North Melbourne), Mate Colina (Richmond), Brad Crouch (St Kilda), Aaron Francis and Joel Hamling (both Sydney) have also had commitments to be re-drafted by their clubs on Friday.

Colina is such a waste of a list spot but whatever.

So Colina is no longer a cat B rookie?

Sorry but to me if he can't be cat B he shouldn't be on our list

Shouldn’t be on the list regardless.

Some real strangeness with this.

Richmond has filled its list spots, so North Melbourne will have pick No.1 in the rookie draft today. The Roos will use it to re-select Toby Pink.

He is a Cat B rookie.  We got an exemption (again) to re-list him as a Cat B.

So did we actually re-rookie Colina because there’s absolutely no mention of it on the AFL site.

Just saw that myself

So I'm confused

If he still Cat B, rookie and cat B rookies are included as part of the main lists, then how have filled our list?

I count 28 players on the primary list + 8 national draftees that takes us to 36 on the primary list which is within the required range of 36-38.

Then I count 6 Cat A rookies which is within the required range of 4-6 and 1 Cat B rookie (you can have up to 2).

So 36 Primary List + 6 Cat A rookies + 1 Cat B rookie = 43 Total Listed Players. The maximum list size is 44, so if we didn’t relist Colina, we have 1 spot on our list left which can either be on our primary list or for a new Cat B rookie.

Thanks

HKTigerB says he's been relisted as a CatB rookie

So based on your numbers our list is full

Just an opinion but I don't agree with relisting Colina

So when do our new draftees actually start at the club?

So when do our new draftees actually start at the club?

Going by Hartley's interview after the draft, next Monday when everyone is back on deck

Least we don't have to worry about the SSP train on nonsense selecting a player just before the season starts.

I would imagine each draftee would go through a thorough medical check, then our fitness expert would find out about their programs and develop specific regimes for all of them ??
