I have asked this question many times and no one has come up with an answer.

Is there a group of people who select the team and if yes does the coach have the final say??

There is a match committee made up some of the coaches and in our case I believe TL sits on it as well. Would think the senior coach has the final say on line ball selection calls but don't know for sure

Just read on a supporters page on FB that there’s doubt Nank and Dusty will be playing. The person who runs this page supposedly is in the know but I haven’t seen anything in the official RFC page. Anyone can confirm this is true?

Watched some of the 360 with dimma and he said we are playing very much a Melbourne style of game, with comments from some of our players confirming we are more contest focused and territory rather than turnover. I just wonder whether we will enjoy this style of footy with everyone raving about Collingwood and gws

Gold Coast versus Richmond Preview

Jack Makeham
SEN
6 March 2024

Is there a juicier storyline in Opening Round than Damien Hardwick coming face-to-face with his old side for the first time since his shock departure?

Gold Coast enters the season desperate to start the Hardwick era off right, with hopes that Dimma will lead them to finals for the first time in club history.

With a completely new system being implemented, some growing pains were expected at the Suns, and they have certainly reared their heads throughout Gold Coast’s pre-season efforts, falling short in both of their match sims.

Meanwhile Richmond has a fresh-faced coach of their own, with Adem Yze making his first in a senior gig, having come over from the Demons as their lead assistant coach.

The Tigers fared better in their first pre-season under a new regime than the Suns, handling Melbourne in their first showing before stumbling against the reigning premiers.

On paper these sides look evenly matched, and with neither Gold Coast or Richmond looking completely comfortable in their new systems, this is truly a clash that could go either way.

For Richmond, they have already been dealt a tough injury hand, with Dustin Martin, Tom Lynch and captain Toby Nankervis all set to miss the season opener.

While the Suns haven’t exactly turned Heritage Bank Stadium into a fortress in recent years, however they have had the Tigers’ number as of late, having taken down Richmond in every match since 2020.

It mightn’t be too pretty, but it’s looking like Gold Coast will have just enough to get the job done.

Tip: Gold Coast by 8 points.
