I know I'm only 35 and too young for Raines + Hart.

But come on lol.

Dusty by a mile. Has won everything.

The rest has great moments, traits and accolades but Dusty has them all.

Think that’s hard to say without living through the career of the other 2.

I know reading articles or listening to the older generation speak about Royce is very similar to how we think of dusty now. His accolades more than stack up with Dustys too; 4 x premiership player (2 as captain), all Australian, 2 x Jack Dyer Medal winner, 2 x Michael Roach Medal winner, AFL team of the century, RFC team of the century. The only things really missing are the norm smiths which didn’t exist during his time and a brownlow.

I've seen all 3 players & seen them all play 100+ games.  It's very hard to compare forwards to mid fielders & even harder to compare players from different eras.  To help (myself) I'll compare apples to apples first.

Dusty Vs Raines is up first.  The short answer is that Dusty wins hands down!  Raines was a fine player who's dash out of the middle with a booming long kick was a joy to watch  ... but that's where the comparison finishes.  Dusty blows Raines right off the map!  Raines also made the unforgivable mistake of leaving to play for Collingwood!  Game, set & match right there!

Royce was my childhood hero & I could go on & on about how great he was.  Trying to stick to the facts, I still think Royce as a forward was the greatest overhead mark I have ever seen play the game (& I've watched Hudson, Jezza, Wade & McKenna & Blight at their peak).  His judgement of the ball in flight was incredible, he won so many contest by simply judging where the ball was going to land & getting under it.  His hands were the best I've seen - one vice-like grip on the ball was all it took.  Even in the wettest weather he would often clunk the most impossible marks.

So for me its still Royce, with Dusty coming a close second.

Craig Lambert deserves a mention too, and the unforgettable Mark Eustice ... who I have ... umm ... completely forgotten about since watching Dusty ...       ;D

I saw Royce play in final couple of years when he was basically playing on one leg.

What superstar he was! When you look at the power forwards of today with majority being over 6.4ft, 6.5ft makes what Royce was able to do all the more remarkable just an out and out superstar

I've posted before up until the last 5 or so years Maurice Rioli Snr was the best player I had seen play. Just a freak with the most sublime skills.

But in the last few year that's changed. Dusty is the best player I seen play for the Tigers

So for mine Dusty is the best number 4 we've had by a long way
