Yze's post-game presser
« on: June 06, 2024, 11:12:32 PM »
Yze's post-match presser:

* Really proud of the players. Showed character. Last two weeks was good but we couldn't maintain it for 4 quarters. Did it for 4 quarters tonight and it was good to get the reward tonight.

* Credit to our leaders. Plenty of momentum swings and we rested the momentum in the last. Still had 10 young players so we had a young side our there despite a few senior players back. Pleased for the cubs to be part of a win.

* Builds on what we've been doing at training.

* We have plenty to play for. We play for 100k members who expect us to fight hard and compete.

i cant recall which game it was but many of us on here called him out for going soft on the players. Then we got smashed and he changed his tone, then a week later starting coaching from the bench.

The language from him is much better. Eg the last line he said from oneeyed post above.

What is interesting is broady in an interview after the game said his last month has been great or something like that, which begs the question what was the first 2 months like then :shh . Someone must have had a word. (Balmey)

In interesting your last, comment Frankie. I head that comment and my take was simply in the last month when things have been at their lowest he's been and remained a great supporter to all the players

I know you don't put much into what players say to members and fans but at the recent player sponsor dinner every player I spoke to said the same thing about him. He's very calm and his approach hasn't changed since he started (dinner was off the Bulldogs debacle)

So do I think "someone's had a word"? No, not directly but has Yze sort out counsel?  Then yeah perhaps

It certainly is an interesting topic, no doubt

Well he’s a first time head coach, he’s going to seek advice and so he should. You can see him growing into the position. I have full faith in yze to lead us back to the promise land. He gets to grow with the cubs like dimma did.

Its becoming obvious that the players are buying what the Ooze is selling.  The improvement in players like Hugo & Cumbo is proof that Ooze is doing plenty right.  Coaching from the bench has got everybody on the same page.  Watching Noah Balta filling in his diary on the bench & having a laugh with Ooze while doing it was a great moment.  You can't buy stuff like that ...      ;D

same same. I would have my money on Balmey or Benny, with Mrs Yze my rank outsider  :shh

One of those pressers a month back saw his tone remarkedly different to the weeks before. Since then he has been coaching from the bench.

He has coached differently the last month and Broady pretty much confirmed it.

His first month when the players copped praise for not even going at full tilt was not a great start, but he has changed.

Dimma (er) was a changed man after his summer sojourne to Harvard ( I think ) in the summer of 2016, great move by the club and opened his eyes up.

So for YZE to amend so quickly is great.

Agree.
I was very critical as to why Yze seemed not proactive and the team despondent and ambivalent towards his tenure (my own subjective observations). As the only thing he stood for was removing the spoils and memory of success from a room.
I'm not saying I'm convinced about him as yet but I was asking as to why he wasn't on the field considering the amount of youngsters we were using.

As some have already mentioned, I also agree there has been a noticeable shift in his coaching approach and being on the sidelines, his personal interactions with players not only helps the playing group but also helps the supporters like me see how the players respond to him.
If not anything else it's definitely been a positive look and seemingly has helped our overall performance.

The club that keeps giving.
