I don’t think winning the spoon has the same stigma attached to it as it used to be .

What value is there in winning meaningless games at the end of the year….like West Coast .

We will have a bunch of new toys to get excited about soon .
Name one club that began success and a dynasty from winning the spoon and getting so many wonderful toys to play with..... ZERO!

Brisbane “won” the spoon in 1998 . 5 years later they were a champion dynasty team .

Over 60 tackles was a promising sign seeing we've averaging around 40-45

But 19 of them were in the 1st qtr. The 2nd qtr was the qtr that killed us and the tackling number showed that I think we had maybe 10 or eleven

"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)

Very very different set of circumstances there Matty.

Brisbane being an expansion side were given a lot of concessions to get them to the top.

An expansion side ?
They entered the competition in 1987. Hardly relevant when talking a 2001 flag.

And of the 8 players that went there from Fitzroy, only Chris Johnson played in the flags.

Didn’t they also have a larger salary cap which means not got cut after their dynasty ended?

There’s no quick fix . We need to play the long game . Stockpile elite talent for the next couple of years . It’s an ideal time to be crap with tassie coming in .

Richmond can not fix this mess with rookie and mid season drafts .

As bad as this year has been , it’s possible we’re looking at the year as a blessing in years to come .

this whole tassy thing is overblown if you ask me. I agree we need to stockpile picks, but not the north way.

who was near the bottom when gws and suns came in?

Despite all the "yay pick one!" coping jokes, the spoon is an embarrassment and a stain on club's history & never a thing to celebrate or wish for - we all mocked the Toffs when they sung our song after the McMahon goal and how that worked out for them....historically pick 1 is as good a guarantee that you won't win a flag....hopefully we at least bid on Ashcroft so it's moot... :shh

Totally agree. It is definitely a stain on this club's great history and should never be sought after.

Some of our kids lack the required attack on the ball, some need to watch Picket as an example
And this zoning crap is a failure , we are too loose on the pick up , I know I keep saying it but can’t believe we are lucky to even bring the ball to ground in the forward line , we need to invest in a couple of key forwards in the draft ,  Lynch is a bonus not an expectation to play.
To buy in an average forward like Kosinski is not the answer
We need a tackling coach , only some senior players can stick a tackle , it’s so sad.

The broken tackles and the failure to lay a tackle killed us. It led to the Suns getting easy goals.

"I had to laugh... the worst season in club history, and Richmond have waited until Round 24 to start flying the flag."

@kanecornes couldn't believe what he was seeing with four minutes left in Richmond's season.

Skeleton man with his  continuous hatred, little narcissist who makes a living out of trolling , I take everything he says as Richmond hate, nothing he says adds any value to a discussion.

Not sure there's any lies there myself.

I don't like him but he has a point.

It was actually a good game to attend, especially once Pickett got on the field, and the 35,000 crowd felt as loud as double that when Pickett snapped that goal.

Wonder where the fight and mongrel has been most of the year!
