A fully fit McDonald doesn't offer much, why play him when he's not right. Another selection mistake by Longmire.

Heeney wasn't right either which hurt them badly as they rely too much on him, Warner and Gulden. The Swans forward line is pretty average unless those three mids are dominating.

The Swans peaked too early in the season. Similar to us in 2018 and Melbourne in 2022. They only made the GF because GWS choked in the QF while Port were riddled with injuries and ripe for the picking in the Prelim. Once opposition sides started possessing the ball and defensively prevented the Swans from using the corridor they fell back to the pack. In some ways our win over them at the 'G showed the rest of the comp how to beat Sydney.
