The $2.50 on offer for a Port win was outrageous. Couldn’t help myself.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I owe a few on here an apology

I thought we were fit enough but today showed we weren't

So I put hand up and say I got that wrong
Easy H&A draw and we stuffed that
Easiest of the finals game and we stuffed that

Hopefully this will be catalyst for change

Coach needs to go
Whoever does our recruiting needs to go
A minimum of six players need to go

There's the one you missed there Chuck and that's the person who's been there from the start and always seems to escape scrutiny. And that's the head of football, Mike's daughter

THE GOOD.

Seymour and Miller were our best. Especially Miller. Rock solid in defence all game and worked her arse off.

Greiser provided a target and worked hard all game.

Yassir - was lively but she's also very frustrating to watch so I have mixed feeling about her.

Sheerin was our best on baller and tried her guts out all game.

Conti despite being heavily tagged got involved and worked herself into the game and tackled like her life depended on it.

Brennan was good until her injury. Lynch took some good marks and worked hard.

THE BAD

McKenzie - with all her talent we just don't see any of her talent consistently enough. She was great early and non existent in the second half. Really not good enough.

Dempsey - happened to play the worst game I've seen from her ever.  :help

Shevlin - was really poor and got soundly beaten. Just couldn't find it all game. Was she injured?

Kelly - was good in the first but she was unable to keep that level.

Coaching staff - poor selection dropping McClelland for Graham. I think this coach needs to go

THE UGLY

Graham - just gets beaten too often and consistently makes poor decisions whilst she panics under pressure which is a terrible trait when in defence. Her performance was atrocious and she killed momentum.

Luke - gave away too many free kicks which were devastating to us.

Game plan is trash
Skills are deplorable and not to standard.
Fitness - we are not fit enough compared to the better teams.
Red time goals are a major issue.

The club that keeps giving.

Wasn’t able to catch the game but not surprised in the least about the result.

Soft as butter draw and only made finals by half a game and %. 4 games against top8 opposition yielded 1W-1D-2L. We had ‘making up the numbers’ written all over our faces.

List is very midfield/flanker heavy and too many glaring holes in key position department. Not to mention the flawed or lack of gameplan.

Shevlin has not been right since she injured her ankle

Dempsey has struggled since she and her family got vilified by the keyboard cowards. So I'll cut her a fair bit of slack

McKenzie, agree exceptionally disappointing

------------------------------------------------

Richmond's 2024 AFLW campaign has come to a close after a 24-point elimination final loss to Port Adelaide.

In front of a raucous Alberton Oval crowd, the Power now won their first AFLW final in their third season in the competition, their high-octane gameplay in the 11.6 (72) to 7.6 (48) result a bridge too far for the Tigers.

Lauren Arnell's side recorded its second-highest score in the process.

Gemma Houghton continued her winning ways from last week's sealer, kicking the opening goal in front of a heaving Port Adelaide grandstand, before delivering the final nail in Richmond's coffin with a sharp over-the-shoulder effort in the last term.

The nerves seemed to hit Richmond early, the players fumbling and miskicking disposals they would normally nail, while Port Adelaide thrived on the finals adrenaline, the surge game style catching the Tigers' defence out time and time again.

The Tigers converted their first through skipper Katie Brennan, who finished with two goals.

It looked as though Richmond had managed to scrape back a goal in the second term, until winger Ella Boag's hard running was rewarded with a major on the buzzer, finding space on the outside after the Tigers had controlled most of the quarter.

A Caitlin Greiser brace to open the second half temporarily made a game of it, but weight of numbers was far too strong Port Adelaide's way, the forward line working beautifully together to set each other up in space with short and sharp kicks.

Simply put, Port Adelaide had an answer (with interest) for everything Richmond threw at it, applying plenty of pressure and converting its opportunities.

Matilda Scholz had the better of a tough ruck battle with Poppy Kelly, most importantly recording a game-high eight clearances, while partner-in-crime Abbey Dowrick was the pick of a strong midfield, sending the ball forward time and time again.

Brennan's day finished 10 minutes early with a hamstring complaint.

Apologies for being incredulous but this answer kind of sounds like an excuse for poor performance.

In regards to Shevlin (who is one of our best players), if you're not 100% fit why did you play?
If you were fit then where were you?

In regards to Dempsey (also one of our consistently good players), it's an elimination final! Prove the "haters" wrong! And kick some arse!

Is there really any good enough excuse for our prime players not to perform on arguably our most important game of the year?

Both our wingers got absolutely soundly beaten.

Our lack of pace in the side generally is a huge issue.

As i said Shevlin hasn't been right since ahead hurt her ankle. My personal view is they brought her back to early, rather than giving her the time needed. So IMHO she carried an injury into the kast 3 weeks and it bit us and her big time.

As for Dempsey, easy to say prove the haters wrong. But much harder to do. I am not going to go into details as to what she copped. It was disgusting, and those who attacked her gutless. So I will continue to cut her some slack. Yes she had a poor game. But knowing the type of competitor she is I've no doubt she would have busted her gut yesterday. That's not an excuse, it's just a fact
