It’s an outrage
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Technically still in concussion protocols, so not allowed to be tackled. It's the reason he's wearing a cap

Over at Tigerland, number 1 pick Sam Lalor proved he's over a broken jaw and on track for a round one debut after getting through the club's intra-squad hit out. #7news

It’s only a small nudge [ed. Pies' Cameron on Briggs]. In isolation nothing really. But it’s fast becoming one of the early stories of the pre-season. The AFL has so far chosen to let these go from an MRO perspective. Ginbey on Lalor, Sweet on Owens & this.

Talking point on Footy Furnace tonight, 9.40pm. @FootyonNine

I didn’t see sweet/Owens incident so can’t comment on that.

While arguably still reckless atleast when Cameron pushed Briggs it was to gain an advantage (albeit and illegal one) to win a marking contest. Ginbey was nowhere near making a play on the footy.

Shoving a bloke into a contest is pathetic.
Any player not prepared for contact needs protection / be it a shove, bump or punch.

Yze's tiger cub watch - Sam Lalor

“There’s a reason why he’s the number one pick, and it’s not just his talent on the field. He’s just a great character and a great teammate. He’s so diligent. He wants to be the best player he can be, and we’re starting to see that. He hasn’t done a pre-season (previously), he’d normally play cricket in his off-season. He’s just done it all on pure talent. He was so unlucky getting hurt when he did but even seeing how quick he’s recovering and responding to that, it’s been enormous.”

‘Inform your players’: Tribunal cases loom as AFL warns clubs over charges for pushing trend

The AFL has reportedly sent out a memo to clubs warning them of a potential suspension for players who opt to push opponents in marking contests.

SEN’s Sam Edmund revealed on Monday evening that the league’s executive general manager Laura Kane contacted each of the 18 clubs to confirm that instances of a player pushing a rival into a contested space are now under their eagle eye.

It comes after the quartet of Sam Lalor, Laitham Vandermeer, Mitchito Owens and most recently, Kieran Briggs were all either concussed or notably injured as victims of the act inside the last three weeks.

“Please note such conduct may also be subject to a charge of rough conduct as a reportable offence, if it constitutes a breach of the duty of care owed by the player to their opponent,” the memo reportedly outlined last Thursday.

“Please inform your players of this ahead of your first match.

“Recently, there has been discussion regarding pushes into marking contests.

“We will continue to umpire these instances as we have previously where a free kick will be awarded if: a) a player unduly pushes their opponent in a marking contest, or b) If a player pushes their opponent in the back in a marking contest.”
