I really hope it isn’t OP for the credibility of the club.
I know this is against the grain of this forum but if Smillie is just needing this year to work out his body to develop elite training and conditioning standards then fine.
The delta from schoolboy footy to afl is massive.

If we are hiding injuries, that’s another thing entirely and points to a bigger issue

It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Makes zero sense
If that's why he has been out, why all the smoke and mirrors?

I stand corrected, its a quad

Not sure why they didn't give us this info earlier, but at least we have more clarity now.

Shame that he seems to be made of paper.

probably because its a recent occurrence ?

"Smillie had returned to the main group in the past fortnight and was pushing for a VFL return until he felt discomfort in his quad following a recent training session."

It’s a bit rich to call an 18 year old made “of paper”.
The bigger question was whether there were warning signs in pre season that weren’t taken into consideration so we might have been able to act sooner.
At 196cm, it appears he has again grown?
He is huge and to build the fitness required to be a midfielder it seems obvious a kid that size is probably going to be prone to soft tissue injuries as he builds his fitness capabilities to be an afl midfielder.

Very disappointing. Let’s just hope it’s as some have posted above that it’s just a case of the young fella growing into his body and getting used to the grinds of an AFL program.

Have a strong preseason and have him primed for a round 1 debut.

I don't post what I hear on my street these days, not worth the grief

But...Certainly know he was really crook last week and struggled to train and when he did pulled up sore

I think the last bit of HRT post re the growth spurt and its impact is spot on
