Pretty odd that Armstrong has fallen to me. But I trust the recruiters !

Excited to see how he goes

JONTY FAULL

Position: Tall forward

Size: 195cm

Clubs: GWV Rebels/Redan

AFL player comparison: Charlie Curnow

There’s something special about this tall Rebel, who’s strong overhead and competitive, yet agile and clean below his knees for a player of his size. Faull bounced back brilliantly after a long lay-off to start the season with a back injury, kicking five goals from three games for Vic Country at national champs level. He was then a dominant force at Coates Talent League level, finishing the season with an impressive 27.16 — including nine goals across two finals for the Rebels — while averaging 13.0 disposals, 4.5 marks and 102 ranking points from 11 matches.

Think we went real early here with Armstrong and Shanahan on board but proven to be positive as we got Armstrong later and Shanahan still on board if we want him.
Go Tigers!

Not surprised , him & Lalor have been our two primary targets for months. :shh

Do you think he would have still been on the board with 1 of our picks in the 20s?

No. Armstrong had the numbers but Faull has the aggression clubs want from a KPF that rest that were left after Tauru lack in this draft with the possible exception of Gerryn who's more of a ruck  - club obviously agreed. :shh

Tigers welcome Jonty Faull

Richmond has selected GWV Rebels tall forward, Jonty Faull with its fourth selection, No. 14 overall at tonight’s Telstra AFL Draft.

Faull, a tall forward who is agile and strong overhead helped propel the Rebels into the Coates Talent League Grand Final with bags of four and five goals in the Qualifying and Preliminary Finals this year.

He finished the campaign with 27 goals from 11 games and an average of 13 disposals and 4.5 marks per game.

Faull also booted 20 majors and averaged 13 touches across 12 matches last year as a bottom-aged key position player.

The 195cm product from Ballarat Football League club, Redan, also impressed with his aerial ability when playing representative football for Vic Country.

Faull booted five goals from the three National Championships matches and four score involvements per game.

Richmond Recruiting Officer, Sam Cousens said that Faull was a competitive key forward who attacked contests with vigour, adding that he followed up with strong intent at ground level.

“Jonty is a blue-collar footballer who thrives in physical contests,” he said.

“He had an injury interrupted start to the season but did not miss a beat when he resumed playing, and he was able to hit the scoreboard in all his games for Vic Country, including three against the Allies.

“We are excited to add Jonty to our list and we welcome him and his family to Tigerland.”

They must really rate him ahead of the other kps then as they had Armstrong, Shanahan and the Whitlocks all available at their first pick and opted to take Dattoli. All bar Armstrong were available at their next pick too and they went with a bolter in Bowman. Find it hard to believe they would have taken Faull when they passed on all the other kps with their first 2 picks.

Sounds like Faull was higher rated by afl clubs than various mocks/phantoms/rankings
