Noah Balta will make his return for Richmond on Saturday night against Gold Coast - three days before he is sentenced in the NSW courts for an assault charge he has pleaded guilty to

Well done  :thumbsup. Very happy and it is the perfect game for him with Dimma.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

Finally! Showing we’ve got some aggits
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Some strong words from Matthew Richardson as Richmond recalls Noah Balta for senior selection.

-------------------------

Richmond great Matthew Richardson has called for more education on the danger of coward punches in the wake of the club’s selection call.

“I’m looking at a bigger picture, I actually spoke to Matt Cronin from the Pat Cronin Foundation,” he said on Wide World of Sports.

“Noah (Balta) has made a horrendous decision. I think this is an opportunity for Richmond and the AFL now to come together now and work towards educating young people on the dangers of violence.”

From Barrett's Sliding Doors column today:

IF ...
I don't believe the AFL should adopt the NRL's "no fault" stand down policy because of many pitfalls ...

THEN ...
I do believe the AFL and the Tigers should have implemented it with Noah Balta. Simply cannot believe he's been cleared to play, before being sentenced in a NSW court for serious assault. Yes, I know the initial AFL-backed Tigers ban aligned with the court hearing, which was subsequently pushed back a fortnight. But the goalposts changed on everything when Balta not just pleaded guilty, but was shown on CCTV to be acting in a highly disturbing way. I won't be listening for a very long time to any word this club dares to utter on any form of social messaging. Because only one thing matters – actions.

I can understand people saying it’s just another week why not just delay it further in what is more or less a meaningless game for us considering our position, however what would happen if over the coming days the sentencing hearing got pushed back another month and then as that approached it got pushed back again and so on?

Everyone and their dog knows he’s going to get a slap on the wrist especially the oh so vocal VIC premier who is seeing people get off left right and centre.

Old Slugger Balta made a huge difference tonight. He bathed King and our backline looked infinitely more solid.

Great to have him back.

Missed his insane power and strength. Massive kick.

Boggles the mind this guy is up for assault from 3 punches and didn't hurt the 'victim'. I get it, he made a mistake. But all involved is lucky his punches were 10% of the power he has.

To be completely honest, and while I don't one but condone what he did, I agree with your last sentence. When I saw the footage I didn't think Balta was going all out trying to kill the guy. He was whacking him for sure but not like he was going 100%.

Victim got his payout and that's all he wanted, that's very clear.

Had a classic balta moment at the end game when he ran way under the flight of the ball but was up there with our best in a game where we had a lot of very good performances.

Yep I'll die on the hill with this. He pushed him over grazed his face and gave him 3 glorified closed fisted slaps.

Victim posted a video online with blood from the graze. Legal team did their job and media have had a field day.

Nobody condones what he did but I'll die on the hill it's the biggest beat up of any AFL scandal I can remember. Fox Footy just did a whole segment on Noah and the crowd boos...Hats off to Noah for playing such an outstanding game.

I hope the case clears up some finer details and hope that the victims medical report is revealed so to the extent of the actual physical damage can give some context to the hysteria.

Jay Clark on Fox Footy tonight reckons the court on Tuesday will give Balta some form of community service.
