I’m assuming Smilie has been injury free since his injury, therefore conditioning for several months. Now he hasn’t been able to run out training sessions. I’d like to know what the ‘conditioning’ consists of???

I just find it interesting that he had a full preseason and one would assume he was put through extensive testing to identify any physical weaknesses that needed attention at that point in time.
Soooo, what’s happened with him over this entire timeframe?

I don't think he had a full preseason.

He did his hammy a month or so before r1?

Yeah did a hammy late into the preseason then he came back and played a few games in the vfl before he did another hammy that’s when the whole ‘conditioning’ block started before the latest update of a quad ending his season.

I just read that someone suggested he’s still growing. I know he was listed as 195cm when we drafted him. If he’s still growing, is there a risk he becomes too big for a midfielder?

Nah if Conor Nash can do it then Smillie can IMO.

Chatting on Friday, question for our pseudo medico’s, days gone by when you did a hammy you were stretching as much as possible on day 1 (according to lunchtime drivel, I would imagine too painful, but anyhoo), so the theory was in days gone by that this stretching meant the hammy was somehow longer when healed, no stretching supposedly meant you would injure it again.

Is that what happens today or is that all bs.?? (note a few reds were involved)

Any comments input?!

It's BS.

Don't stretch a strained or torn muscle.

Rest it, gentle exercise only.

You can lengthen it again later if necessary when it's healed a bit with certain exercises (strength and load-bearing stretches like standing T's).

What’s the general recovery time for such an injury? Atleast he’ll be able to keep his fitness levels up until he can get back involved in the physical stuff.

If it's a simple clean break, then that's usually a six-week recovery which means Sims would be right for the start of next preseason. Hopefully it's not a complicated break (eg: Nathan Brown's leg).

Its just not funny.  Its just sickening that some posters are waiting for a player to get hurt so they can run off their favourite joke ... really poor stuff ...

Sims gone to hospital with what Tigers are saying is an elbow injury.
