Final Score

Richmond    2.3    4.6    5.8      9.9-63
Melbourne   3.2    5.4   11.7   12.11-83

Goals: Lynch 3, Taranto 2, Lalor, Green, Mansell, Nankervis.

As others have said the scoreboard flattered us in the end with 3 junk time goals once Gawn was rested. That second half especially the third quarter will not be pretty in Monday's review. Unacceptable 'efforts' that wouldn't be tolerated at VFL level let alone at AFL. Nothing worse in footy than seeing so many players cough up the ball or go to ground so easily in the contest or fail to man up and be unaccountable. We were ordinary all night and a disorganised meek rabble for most of that 2nd half aside from the last 5-10 mins. We dished up bruise free footy. Not good enough even from a young side.

The first half we were very competitive- only brain farts cost us the lead .

3 rd quarter - they destroyed us and put the game to bed .

Junk time goals made the score respectable.

Team looked tired .

FMD It is going to be a good read around here with all the excuses that will be trotted out for the senior hacks who just don't change.
When will you lot learn.

How the stuff Short continues to get a game is beyond belief yet most here will just ignore just how shiite he is.

We can really depend on the likes of Ross McIntosh and Rioli when the whips get cracking for #ucks sake wake up people they are stealing games from kids with better attributes how many years does it take for people to wake the stuff up.

Its like our court system over here we have blokes with 100 convictions for the same sort of offences but hey they will come good at some stage, but not before wrecking some poor buggers life for the 101st time.

Serial offenders is what we have and all the blinkered crowd do is defend them  freakin wake up to yourselves.

I don't disagree Claw, just not sure it's wise to field an additional 3 draftees instead.

You're right though.

KMac should retire this year.
Short should be traded if we can get a 2nd rounder for him.
Have said often that I think mrj is a bust.

We played like a side coming off a 5 day break.  Then ran into the most over-umpired game of the year.
I'm not fond of the umpiring in the AFL but tonight was a real low point!  Pedantic, inconsistent & with no feel for the game.  Knee jerk festival!      :thumbsdown

Well just another poor game really. To keep perspective, we have already won more games than we expected for the whole year. It’s hard to remain positive when the leaders play poorly though (vlastuin, lynch, short, hopper,Taranto) on top of them, banks, Dow and Ross have been really bad imo. Ross gets a go in the twos for me, has been really average since rd 1. Let sonsie or anyone else play his role
The disappointing thing is Melbourne aren't that good. It's just been pitiful by us and dull as. The type of performance that won't encourage people to turn up next week. We know we're young and not going to win too many games, but we at least expect the team to have a dip. To dish this up on Anzac Eve just makes it all the more worse.

I think they’ve had a crack, there’s still good effort imo. Just horrible skills and decision making and positioning really. Melbourne are reading us like a book. How many times we kicked to a contest with Gawn ? Basic stuff
First half yes we had a crack and we exploited Gawn going off late. But between that especially in that 3rd quarter we lacked effort in the contest and being accountable off the ball defensively which was most disappointing. Agree Simonator about our tactics. We kept going wide and slow which played into Melbourne and especially Gawn's hands down the line.

Everything we did well last week we failed to do this week

The pressure, the 2nd and 3rd efforts, sticking tackles

3rd quarter we were non competitive

All our small forwards were terrible

Not sure why Gray was subbed out. Can name at least 5 others who should have subbed before him.

Nank was smashed by Gawn. But let's be honest he always gets s,asked by Gawn

Their older players stood up ours didn't

30 more tackles when having 80 more possessions screams lack of workrate
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

The delivery into the forwardline played right into Gawn 's hands and didn't help our small forwards at all. Should have lowered eyes. We lacked intensity for the most of the game and tackling is a major concern. Nank Hopper Taranto Broad Lynch and Flos all tried hard. Ross played really poorly and unfortunately Kmac's disposal always let's him down.

We are not running out games this year, our fitness coaches have some work to do as playing half a game is an an issue .
Might be why Brown was sub in , but I didn’t like the message it gave to the first gamer .

That’s what happens when you have a very young group complimented by very old players and not much in between.
