Give him time. It’s going to be worth the wait.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Richmond VFL outclassed by Demons

By Connor Burns
Richmond Media
24 April 2025

The VFL Tigers went down by 118 points to the Casey Demons at Casey Fields on Thursday, unable to ever get their game style going throughout the match.

Both teams started slowly kicking one goal each in the first quarter to be all square at quarter-time. For the Tigers, Kane McAuliffe and Josh Smillie started well, finding plenty of the footy in a tight opening term.

Coming out of quarter-time, Casey enjoyed the spoils of a howling breeze with key-forward Jacob van Rooyen kicking three goals, as the Demons' midfield got on top and started to dictate proceedings. Casey went into the main break ahead by 29 points.

In the second half things didn’t get much better for Richmond, as its opposition continued to burst through the middle and link up by hand. Casey finished the quarter kicking 7.3 to the Tigers' 1.3 to charge ahead by 65 points with one term to play.

In the last quarter Casey piled on more pain and kicked 9.6 to eventually run out 118-point winners.

Richmond vice-captain Mutaz El Nour stood tall all day, while Smillie (23 disposals and five clearances) and Kaleb Smith (23 disposals) showed promising signs. Judson Clarke also made a successful return from an ACL injury he suffered last year.

Richmond  1.2   1.3    2.6       3.7 (25)
Casey        1.2   5.8   12.11   21.17 (143)

Goals: Raso, Colina, Hayes-Brown
