Just to clarify TK, we'll bid to get the compo and drop to P4.

We only get it if we bid first?

No we don’t need to bid provided that bombers do.

Any team that finished in the bottom 5 that holds their original pick receives compensation if their pick slides back due to father soon or academy selections. So all of the bottom 5 will meet this criteria as soon as bombers bid on Cochrane at pick 1.

If walker is available at out pick I believe Richmond will bid. If a miracle happened and he fell through to us, they would be very happy.

Carlton winning last night means their first pick has reduced again in draft points value.

In the past we have bid on the best ranked player according to our rankings. We have done it on successive players.

No reason what ever for Essendon to not bid on first Cochrane and then Walker if they rank them one and two.
The only reason they won't bid at all is so whoever they take at pick one gets all those benefits that they get for being taken there.

Imo with pick 19 at stake they will bid on Cochrane and if they do i can see no reason why they won't bid on Walker as well.
They don't owe us a thing its in their interests to deny us another pick.

Sorry just saw this and it makes sense apologies. It may not stop Essendon from bidding twice though.

correct me if im wrong, if they bid on even one (cochrane) then our pick slides to 3 and therefore we are eligible for the compo pick as are the next 3 teams after us?

if they bid on walker also we still get the compo?

If we move back from position two via either Essendon or us bidding , then we get compo

As do the other three teams

Yup just takes 1 bid and all bottom 5 teams who have retained their natural pick will be given the compo as a result of their pick sliding.

Hope bombers go bang bang Cochrane, Walker only because that’s what it would likely be in an uncomptomised draft but I get the sense it will more likely be 1. Cochrane (Essendon bid), 2. Essendon pick, 3. Walker (Richmond bid), 4. Richmond pick.
