RICHMOND vs Collingwood

Sunday, 27th July @ the M.C.G.

Start time: 2:10 pm

https://www.afl.com.au/afl/matches/7131

Not sure a month ago anyone would have predicted coming into this game that we'd be coming off back-to-back wins and the Pies off back-to-back losses.

Ponsford Stand returns to the Tiger Army

Richmond will reclaim its member bays in the Ponsford Stand for Sunday’s clash with Collingwood.

There’s something special about the Ponsford Stand on a Sunday afternoon, when the sun is peaking through the clouds and it’s packed with the Tiger Army.

Level 2 of the city end hums with noise and turns into a wall of yellow & black. For years, though, that energy was dulled by a deal that never quite felt right.

But not anymore.

Round 20 isn’t just another MCG blockbuster against Collingwood. It’s a homecoming.

For the first time, Tiger members will return to their rightful seats in the Ponsford Stand for a Richmond home game against the Magpies. It’s a long-awaited moment. One the Club fought for - and won.

An arrangement which allowed Collingwood members to occupy level 2 seats in the Ponsford Stand - even during Richmond home games, which displaced Tiger members from their allocated seats – is finally over.

Tiger Army, the Club has listened, pushed, and persisted. Now, the stands are shifting, quite literally, in Richmond’s favour.

Richmond General Manager of Customer and Technology, Dino Imbriano, played a large role in pushing for this decision.

“This is a significant win for our members,” Imbriano said.

“Our members have wanted this situation rectified for many years. They can now sit together and enjoy blockbuster home games against Collingwood in their normal reserved bays.

“The new arrangements will also give Richmond Club XIII members exclusive access to the Harrison Room. It is a great result for our members.”

Richmond faithful, this moment is yours, and now the Tiger Army needs to own it.

On Sunday afternoon, in the annual Alannah & Madeline Foundation match, the Club is calling on the best fanbase in the competition to fill every seat, be loud, and remind everyone why the MCG roars loudest when Richmond calls it home.

Here’s How You Can Be Part of It

Got a reserved bay ticket in the Ponsford Stand? Be there. Be loud. Be part of history.

Can’t make it as a reserved bay member? Contact our Membership Team for assistance with passing on your spot to another Tiger. Every spot matters.

General Admission member? Keep an eye out for exclusive upgrade offers into the Ponsford Stand.

As a bonus, every member in attendance goes into the Attend & Win draw - just by showing up, you’ll be in the running to join the Round 24 Guard of Honour!

Tiger Army, the Club fought and fought — and won.

Richmond v Collingwood Preview

Andrew Slevison
SEN
24 July 2025

Richmond has notched up back-to-back wins for the first time under Adem Yze.

Last Saturday night’s 49-point triumph over West Coast was the biggest win of Yze’s reign and first time the Tigers have scored over 100 with him in charge. First-year young guns Jonty Faull, Taj Hotton and Tom Sims showed a bit last week and that is all the Tigers fans will want to see against the Pies. They will lose excitement machine Seth Campbell to concussion for this however.

The Magpies are in a funk if you look at their recent win-loss column. Two defeats on the trot does not look great, but take into account they’ve lost by just six points to Gold Coast and one point to Fremantle. They really should have had that Dockers game shot to bits late, but uncharacteristically let Freo back in. Their form prior was exceptional and that’s what they’ll be channelling here. Beau McCreery’s hamstring strain is a shame but they should be able to cover his loss.

These two sides, while 16th and 1st on the ladder respectively, enter with very different and unexpected form lines. The Tigers have reeled off two wins on the trot, the Pies have lost two in a row for the first time in 2025. But you just get the feeling that McRae’s experienced Pies need this one a bit more than Yze’s young Tigers. Their spot on top of the ladder is at risk and they need to rediscover their mojo. This looks like a great chance to do so.

Prediction: Collingwood by 35 points.

Nine’s Tom Morris reports Scott Pendlebury will be a late withdrawal from the Magpies side due to management.

Oleg Markov, who was originally omitted from the team that lost to Fremantle last week, will replace Pendlebury in Craig McRae’s 23.

Good challenge today. Expect Collingwood defence to be way too organised for our inexperienced fwd line.

Have a feeling Hotton might have a pretty big impact though

As per GR12's post.

Against crap sides like Essendon and the Eagles we got away with our schoolboy errors. Top sides punish us. A soft goal to give away. It shouldn't have got into the Pies forward line in the first place.

For some reason Sonsie seems to be the down the line go to player and it hasn't worked once and he's getting soundly beaten every time one on one.  :help

More schoolboy mistakes. Green had to hold onto that.
