Yze turns focus to final roundBy Henry Milic

Aug 18, 2025Richmond coach Adem Yze has declared the side's third quarter wasn’t up to standard in the 48-point Round 23 loss to North Melbourne.
Despite trailing by just seven points at halftime, the Kangaroos opened the game up in the third quarter, scoring eight goals to Richmond’s one.
“That third quarter just wasn’t good enough,” Yze said.
“We were in the fight up until halftime, and at the start of the third, we had all of the play, we had all of the time in our half, I think it was six inside 50s to zero, and we didn’t capitalise.
“Their first entry they score from, and then just a dam wall opened. I think they ended up kicking eight goals from 10 inside 50s, which is just not good enough, and our boys know that.”
Despite the game swinging in North’s favour, Yze took some solace in the Tigers' fourth quarter response, where they kicked six goals.
“The positive is our response,” Yze said.
“We could’ve turned our toes up in the last quarter, but to kick six goals and show a bit of fight is all I could ask.
“But like I said, our boys are licking their wounds, and they know that third quarter wasn’t good enough and we will look to Geelong next week.”
With one more game to play, Yze said he will reflect on his side’s season after their clash with the Cats.
“We work week to week, so we didn’t put a number on how many wins we wanted to finish the season with, it was just about improving and growing,” Yze said.
“When you’re talking about the season, we will look at that after the Geelong game.
“We know we are on the right path, but our boys need to respond in the right way.”
