What most people don’t seem take into account is that by matching a bid, a trade will be forced by PA. No other team can match our draft capital. We are front runners on two fronts.

I have been saying it since last year.
If he leaves and we want him, we are hard to beat on both fronts which I thought he might actually stay.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Tiger71 on the Tigercast youtube channel tonight:

* Repeated the Sean Darcy stuff. Similar to the Geelong deal with Gold Coast. We're going to absorb Darcy's contract $800k p.a. over 4-5 years. Freo give us Darcy and their first rounder. We give them a 2nd or 3rd round pick plus a swap of later picks.

* 95-98% confident Butters will come to Richmond. If Butters doesn't nominate the Dogs by next week then he isn't going there. He is giving us and Port time to organise a deal. 60-70% of his contract will be front loaded in the first two years. Cubs will re-sign on two-year deals during that period and then the money will be available to them going forward. Lalor not going anywhere.

* We won't bid on Cochrane at pick 1. That will mean for Port, Cochrane will be cheaper than if we bid on him at pick 1. They will retain their bonus pick, the first rounder we get from Freo, our future first, plus a swap of second and third rounders.

To match pick 1 they need 2700 points or picks 5 & 22.
To match pick 2 they need 2265 points or picks 5 & 42.
Us having pick 1 makes a huge difference trade wise.

* Not hearing about us and Briggs.

* We're planning to bring in a forward during next year's trade period.

Callum Twomey's on Butters. Second half of video.

Said Butters is still deciding between us, Dogs & Cats.
Dogs are club all in. Obsessed. How they get a deal done is the issue.
We have the huge offer.
Cats offer is restricted given their player contract structures.
Not the Pies.

ps. Eddie sooked about why Butters won't choose the Pies. "Oh he can play in front of big crowds at the MCG"  ::) He'll be doing that if he chooses us Eddie.

"I think he is genuinely torn between the four clubs." - us, Dogs, Cats, Pies.

Sammy Edmund provided an update on the future of Zak Butters.

So in this grand plan that tiger71 claims to have the inside goss on, it seems like it would fall down if we don’t have pick 1. So how have these discussions taken place when up until 2 weeks ago we didn’t have said pick and it didn’t look like Essendon were going to win another game? Also what happens if we beat the eagles this week?

Hence we won't win a game for the rest of the year you'd think

Yeah but what about if the bombers didn’t win 2 weeks ago? I know it’s moot now assuming we don’t win another game, but I just struggle to believe that this plan was concocted so quickly after the bombers won, like what were the discussions before that?

Suspect:
- we had the offer on the table
- had multiple strategies for how this could go ahead, including if we finished 18th or 17th etc
- discussed with PA since Dons 3rd win

"I think this just highlights that Zak Butters is still in his decision-making process."

- Mitch Cleary on Geelong planning to have a "formal meeting" with Zak Butters

The creative way Tigers could land Butters

Riley Beveridge's trade:

- Contingent on Butters choosing Richmond.
- Tigers tell Port not to match so Port get a first round compo pick (pick 5).
- Richmond trades for a secondary Port player Miles Bergman and gives Port pick 1 plus a future first.
- Gives Port picks 1, 4, 5 plus Tigers F1. The future pick helps Port next year with F/S Salopek.
- Richmond gets two quality players for that bounty of picks rather than just one.

Wrong strategy for me with Butters. Either free agency or we walk. Clear as daylight this season it is , we still need to draft top talent in to continue the rebuild not giving up the farm with the top draft hand we will have. Huge mistake if we do it especially this really is the last crack getting top talent in before Tassie enters
