Soooooo hypothetically
If we get Butters, Taranto in the guts, where does that leave K Mac2, Ross, Sonsie etc
Squeezed out by Lalor and Cumming is where they’ll be left.

McA, Ross, Hotton along with Drever hopefully but i will put Butters here ,  would join Taranto Cumming lalor and Smillie to make up the 7 or 8 midfield rotations that all clubs have on game day.

It still leaves the reserves team basically  without any afl listed mids to develop, cover injury and put pressure on incumbents.

If we get him we get him i just think its too early to be trading out of another draft we just dont have the depth or players in the right age /games bracket.

I don't want Butters to help us go from last to 10th, when we get a player like him it has to be to challenge for a flag.

Anyway i dont think he will come to us because imo he will want success straight away he may as well stay at Port than come to us if its immediate success he is after.
He turns 26 in a week or so i really dont think he is gunna want to leave it until he is 30 or so which remains the sort of time frame we are on imo of course.

Right but you've named 4 elite prospects in the senior 23 as mids. 20 years old or younger and excluded Samuel Grlj.

 + McAuliffe 21.
 + Ross 25.

The reserves would be NTR and tanner Armstrong.

Not ideal but you keep insisting you want prestia and hopper there.

Scott Pendlebury will play for Gold Coast in 2027.

Pendlebury has agreed to a two-year playing deal - which will take him beyond the age of 40 - then a two-year assistant coach role at Gold Coast.

Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains has given the latest update on the club’s pursuit of Zak Butters, saying they are all in on bringing him to the Kennel.

While the CEO did dismiss some of the reporting in recent days, he did reiterate their interest.

“The accuracy of some of those reports and timing and things like that, I'm not sure if…well, I'm sure they're not 100% right,” Bains told AFL Nation.

“In terms of Zak, he's obviously indicated he wants to come home.

“We've been someone as a club who has been open about an interest in him if he were to do that.”

With Butters being a restricted free agent, Port Adelaide can and will match any offer any of the three clubs makes, which forces the preferred club to make a trade.

And with the Port Adelaide star only indicating he wants to return to Victoria as of yet, Bains notes it’s realistic that without him nominating, he could be at any of the three clubs.

“As we understand it, that's a realistic chance,” he continued.

“I think he's still working through his decision as to where he wants to go, and that's what's been conveyed to us.

“One aspect that is important, particularly from his management group's perspective, is a club being able to get a deal done if, as Port have indicated, they match the bid, so that'll be a consideration.”

In a world of Buddy, Gaz, Judd, Hodge, Mitchell,, Lewis, Neale, Dangerfield and now Pendles and Butters moving clubs and not being a one club player.

I'm so glad our superstars all all one club players. Richmond men.

The greatest of all time Dusty and our captain courageous Cotch. Chuck in Jack and even Rance. No splitting legacy. Just Richmond jumpers. I'm sad they didn't play longer for us but he I'm glad they didn't cash in on playing 1-2 years with another club. Especially Dusty. Get in the bin Collingwood fans. Lost a final and your greatest ever player in 60 minutes. What a pity. Dog up ya. #Tigs

I don't want us giving up pick 2, but the Bulldogs winning on Friday night at least pushes their first rounder further back as far as a Butters trade offering.

Lol. Grlj the last time i looked is our most promising h/b and when you look at the quality of whats left it would border on madness to move him to a wing.

Are you saying you don't want our elite prospects playing because they are too young. Sheesh thats as dumb as i have heard.

Elite prospects Taranto he is an elite inside mid and he can play fwd. Criticism is pace.Thats fine hes inside.
What you don't want to see Cumming, Hotton, Drever ? Lalor, Smillie in the 23 and get games who the eff are you going to play in their place. Can i have some of those drugs you have to be on.

Oh deary me Yep i forgot about poor old Hopper  and Prestia has retired. So in the magoos we would have just Hopper.
So you don't want some leadership and experience in the magoos i see better the magoos get belted all year eh.

We cannot play all of the gumboot brigade in the one team why is that so hard for you to comprehend fmd 8 year olds get it.
We are not paying Hopper out you do remember that outrageous 7 year deal he sucked them into. Again comprehension is not your strong suit.

So given we cant play all of the slowies  at one time and given we are not a charity  cannot pay Hopper out, Playing him in the reserves as a bit of depth cover and a teacher to what ever mids we get in is plain old common sense. Seems it is in short supply with you.
Please try to keep up from here on in its getting tedious having to spell everything out for you.

Im pretty sure i mentioned Ross, McA, Hotton and either Drever or Butters ( i dont believe Butters will come to us) to play alongside Taranto Cumming Smillie and Lalor. The cupboard is pretty bare for mids after fitting them all into our BEST 23.
You obviously disagree. Thats it though who plays when injuries inevitably hit who plays when form inevitably drops away Not Prestia or Hopper iyo. Who then? its not as if we are brimming over with backups who can play at the level.Nope we don't need more mids Butters will get us there.

Im pretty sure when all are available we will play 7 or 8 of the above which is what was said. I suppose you disagree with that as well.
In your deluded little world Zach Butters is going to take us to a g/f next year.

"I feel like it is a lot of money on a very long term deal for someone that's just an inside mid."

Why Rory Sloane isn't convinced that the reports of $2m a season, nine year offers for Zak Butters are the right move.
