It’s Geelong, that trade is only unrealistic in that they are probably paying overs

There's one going around where they get pick 5 and butters.

Toby Greene on @SENBreakfast when asked about his Geelong meeting and the Zak Butters factor.
"I asked them. Obviously it's fairly important. I spoke to Zak as well and that's probably something I'll do again in the next few days because it obviously adds a bit of weight to that decision.
"He (Zak) just said where his head was at and what he valued highly with his decision."

Greg Swann tells Fireball that every trade has to stand on its own merits and they will monitor this potential transaction if it happens.

AFL PUTS CLUBS ON NOTICE IN WATCH ON BUTTERS DEAL

The AFL says it will “scrutinise” every deal this trade period amid suggestions Port Adelaide could get free agency compensation for Zak Butters and more in a separate trade.

Speaking on SEN’s Fireball on Friday, AFL footy boss Greg Swann said “all the deals have got to stand up on their merit” and will be audited as per usual.

“Let’s see what happens. If Zak goes and (Port) take the compensation pick and then there’s a trade for another player or trades for picks, it’s got to stand up,” Swann said.

“We’ll just monitor that and see what it looks like.”

Swann said clubs would be on notice like any other year to ensure everything is above board.

“It’s a bit like, for which we got slammed for, when we sent the letter out to say don’t rest too many players (in Round 24) and everyone lost their minds. We do the same thing with trades ... we do that every year,” Swann added.

“Every deal gets scrutinised. We talk to clubs and record with each party what the deal was, if there’s anything else behind it, if there’s any side deals or anything else involved.

“We always do that, so we’ll remind clubs again that’s the process and just monitor it as it happens.”

I’m not so confident that this will be the case.

It is the most corrupted competition in the nation so anything that appears wrong is wrong. I am 100% certain Butters will end up going to Geelong for next to nothing.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

SYDNEY football boss Leon Cameron has dismissed reports of Nick Blakey wanting to be traded as "speculation", amid ongoing uncertainty around the playing futures of the embattled club's suspended quintet.

The 26-year-old star has five years left on a long-term deal reportedly worth more than $1 million per season.

On Saturday, Cameron said he checks in regularly with the "five good lads" while they are away from the club and insisted he had been given no indication Blakey is keen to leave the Swans.

"Nick hasn't spoken a word of this," Cameron said on 3AW radio ahead of the Swans' qualifying final against Brisbane.

"There's always going to be speculation when clubs are going through a crisis like we've gone through in the last two and a half weeks.

"But it's all speculation, Nick's contracted, and so are all the other guys as well.

"We'll work through what everything looks like when our season finishes, but I don't get tied up in that too much."

"I'm prepared this morning to say Zak Butters in a perfect world would like to play for Geelong next year. That's not necessarily new news. It's been floated around elsewhere that Geelong is his preferred destination. But this is not a perfect world. And that's why the Western Bulldogs are still very much in this. There is also a view from people very close to this situation that the Dogs are more willing to bend over backwards to find the draft picks to satisfy Port Adelaide."

I am glad we are out of the race.. Honestly the draft price and salary cap space is not worth it. We just need to hit the draft hard one more time. Add one or two mature bodies to cover positions of need like a small backman and a another Ruck (Briggs). If an unexpected cheap trade comes up we will be able to swoop in with cap space and perhaps a second rounder. Taking Zak Butters takes too much of everything in my view.

Plus the fact he potentially wants Geelong makes him dirty scum anyway. I have no issue with the Bulldogs. But anything related, affiliated or in discussions to Geelong is just filth.
