Picks 4 and 5 are worth more than pick 2, why would port do that?

If the idea is that they’ll be able to draft someone before a Cochrane bid (i.e. gambling on bombers not bidding on him), then how exactly will they match a bid after that with no 1st round picks left?

Why would Port take pick 5 compensation when they will get the equivalent of at least 3 first round picks from the Western Bulldogs and the AFL said they will scrutinise and not accept any compensation linked to side deals.
Footscray will likely pick up at least a couple of first rounders if Tim English walks out to GWS.

Bulldogs currently hold pick 8 and then pick 25 is their next best. You would imagine with the addition of butters that they will improve next year which coupled with tassie taking most of the picks, means the doggies 1st rounder next season isn’t worth much in a trade.

Of course that doesnt factor in any players they offload and the picks they get back or players they can deal directly to port, but as it stands pick 5 compo is the best thing on the table.

Where’s Tiger71 at with his 99% prediction?
Haven't seen him pop up yet on social media. However, Chris the host of Tigercast posted this on BF:

Quote from: Michaels
To say there are a number of shocked people would be an understatement.

I think in the fullness of time things will come to light and will show why we were as confident as we were.

Having said that, the reality is when you put your neck out on the line and it doesn’t ultimately come off, you have to cop the whacks that come with it.

And on that front it is what it is, I knew the risks.

I’ll forever stand by though that what we knew and said in those moments were very much correct, I feel very very comfortable with everything I shared and when I shared it and the validity of it at the time.

again, in fullness of time I think it will come to light why we felt that.

For now though, if you feel the need to ridicule or have your say, fair play.

Just be sure to tag me in those comments so I know you’re happy to own your comments like I’m happy to own mine!

As I’ve maintained though pick 2 is still nothing to sneeze at if that’s our ‘worst case’.

The sun comes up tomorrow!

As an aside, we are chasing Blakey HARD.

I reckon we will be pretty active next year regarding free agency. We are keen on Anderson and Lachie Ash from a FA perspective, monitoring Logan Morris's situation as well, and have also been linked to Bergman.

RICHMOND

The Tigers put their best foot forward in the Butters sweepstakes, with their financial play and premium draft assets likely turning Port Adelaide’s head.

But it was always hard to envisage Butters genuinely wanting to play for a team that just finished 17th and whose next premiership prospects are years away.

Otherwise, the Tigers also have plenty of money to spend, as evidenced by their heavily front-loaded $18 million offer to Butters months ago.

The club is set to spend some, but not a lot, of money on ensuring 26-year-old ruckman Kieren Briggs’ arrival as a free agent.

Outside of him, though, the Tigers, headed by seasoned list boss Blair Hartley, haven’t been linked to many names ahead of this year’s player movement period.

But after having hit the draft hard in recent years, if they were to pursue a rival name or two, they’d surely be ready-made players who could also offer leadership value to the club’s young cubs.

lol these guys are embarrassing. This was from a few pages back summarising their podcast:

“* Thinks the Dogs know they are third in the race for Butters given the talk yesterday of a plan B for them (Matt Rowell) and the re-signing of Arty Jones and Buku Khamis to long-term deals.”

But now their saying that they knew the cats weren’t in it, so who exactly were the dogs behind being the 3rd team in it?

Glad we missed Zak, would have been a big mistake for our list in my view. Now we get the chance to bring in another 3 top end kids plus Briggs and Tanner Armstrong.

Plus if Leys or Daffy are in the frame we can get them too for nothing. And a delisted free agent if they fit our list need, again for free on a 1 year deal only.

Free agents next year absolutely or even trade in mature needs players. We will likely lose a couple to Tasmania Mansell, Banks and possibly even Nank which will give us extra draft picks.

Never been a fan of Tiger71, dont follow him but others i follow on twitter do, so his post come up in my feed.

All I will say is that it is pretty weak of him to be blocking people because of the flack (rightly) they are copping for getting their Butters predictions so wrong. It you're going to put out guarantees then you cop the whacks that are coming

Just on the Butters situation will confess I wasn't fussed one way or another. It is what it is.

We were visiting friends yesterday down at Phillip Island, one of our friends mad Bulldogs a.  He was clearly over the moon. He had some supposedly "inside" word on a how it supposedly played out, wont go into details as there's very little point. But was adamant that a trade will get done IF requires
