Take him with the additional '  First Nations list spot

' - effectively a fourth Category B spot

Bobby Hill cannot be a category B rookie

As he has was on an AFL list this season

Can only be Cat B rookie after being off a list for 12 months

The AFL will allow clubs an extra list spot for First Nations players – including senior players who have been delisted – as part of the league’s push to arrest the decline of its Indigenous playing ranks

Butters’ determination to see Port Adelaide properly compensated in any exchange was far from overplayed. The specifics of a trade was a big issue for Port, but also a big issue for its departing star.

In the eyes of the Power, Richmond stood to offer the best deal, Geelong the opposite and in between was the Bulldogs.

He wants to go home to Victoria, but he also wants to win. This was what kept a rebuilding Richmond at arms-length despite the Tigers also meeting with Butters.

Geelong has offered pick 32 with later selections involved to Geelong for Rowan Marshall.

St Kilda has told Geelong pick 14 (currently) must be involved in the deal for Rowan Marshall.

Former Collingwood star Bobby Hill has launched an audacious comeback bid, declaring he's once again ready to 'win games for teams'.

Speaking for the first time since parting ways with the Pies, Hill says his love for the game has been reignited.

Code for I need the money.  Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. Would be surprised if anyone does.

Exactly.
See if Stengle does it too.
Happy to go on personal leave while the money is there. Club cuts them loose and suddenly they want to play again.
As C Scott said, it's a business, not a charity.

P14 to be involved for Marshall, honestly I don't disagree too strongly - am weary of seeing the Cats get good players at discounted rates.

Not getting Butters means we have huge salary cap space to pick purchase.

If Port do get the pick 5 compo for Butters, I'd hope we'd be going after it. Swap our future first. Gives Port an early pick next year they need for their F-S/NGA while we get two goes at the top 5 this year. We can trade back into the first round next year as Tassie has to trade a number of their mid-range first rounders. Either Hopper and/or Mansell.

Essendon fans very confident it'll be 1 (and something?) for 4 and 5

"The Bombers have made it clear they are highly unlikely to trade pick one. The cost of pick one would have to be astronomical."

The issue for me around a COMPENSATION pick is it’s was to compensate a club if a player walked into draft and they didn’t get anything back.
He the illogical scenario ,it’s now being floated as just a part the deal by all the player and club deceitful agents and their toadies in the media to game the system. This system of compensation picks  disadvantages all the struggling clubs and advantages the stronger clubs.

I would suggest a fair way to  go is as the competition pick is usually at a reduced amount to the players worth the club receiving the player pays equivalent to the compensation pick set by the AFL.

Collingwood and Greater Western Sydney have come to an agreement on a fourth-round pick trade for Jesse Hogan.

Apologies i read the AFL rules incorrectly

Hill cannot be delisted by Collingwood and then drafted as a Cat B rookie by them

My understanding is he can. Just, not to Collingwood.

The AFL First Nations Rookie rule explicitly states that the 12-month ban only applies to the club that did the delisting (Collingwood).

Multiple rival clubs saying St Kilda is open to trading Mattaes Phillipou should the right deal present.
Don't expect to see him part of any Zak Butters exchange and hard to see where the active interest may lie given he's contracted until 2028 on a seven-figure deal per season.
