If port accept pick 5 they’re circling Richmond’s pick 2 & 20. Port will get pick 10 back for matching a pick 1 bid. Port will have picks 10, 12, 21, 30, 44, 46 to use.

What else do Richmond get with pick 5 if they’re giving up 2&20?

4 as well sorry.

Why would they [Port] do that? Picks 4 + 5 are worth 519 points more than picks 2 + 20

There could be a future pick in it too unsure yet but also if port use those picks they’ll get pick 10 back

https://x.com/Bigdog2477/status/2106983468030918892

Someone here must have their sums wrong as how do Port end up with pick 10? huh3

Having said that, as Richmond would you trade picks 2 + 20 + a future pick for Port's 4 + 5?

They absolutely would not get pick 10 back lol

Matching a bid at pick 1 using picks 2 and 20 will get you pick 27 back.

There is only 1 way port trade picks 4 and 5 and that’s for the bombers pick 1. Assuming they can get a couple of picks in the teens somehow (shifty side trade with the dogs) that will still allow them to draft the best open pool player at 1 and match our bid at 2 to get the best overall player in Cochrane.

But I am assuming we have to agree to that. They can’t just force it without our consent can they …!??

Query. Everyday there seems to be a new player from another club that is wanting a move that have not been known in the main stream media. Today I read josh goater, weekend was Jordan butts and another crows player and they are always linked to Hawks or cats etc.
What I'm wondering is do you think the tiges are looking into players that aren't putting hands up in the media? Or is it that the RFC still leak proof hence we don't hear who they are speaking to, or are we just sitting on our hands waiting for someone to approach us?

On a sperate note, what do you fine people think of the Merrett trade? For mine, it's overs for a 31 year not dominant role type. Yes he's durable and will complement the Hawks well (and is a very good player), but it's a lot of draft capital. I don't think clubs outside of ESS + HAW would have valued him that highly, but curious what you all think?

Paid way overs. They may as well gone after butters with what they spent. His best footy is behind him for sure. I guess value is in the eye for the beholder!

They have no plan at all.

They talk about the long term and the need to hit this draft hard. They  then talk about Butters and  trading out of the draft.
They  do nothing to get more picks that is adding to the ones we have. Instead talk about trading up and actually out of the draft.

They talk in riddles on one hand they talk about the need in certain positions and then do nothing about those who are failing in those positions.
There is no clear defined plan moving forward.they are basically sitting on their hand.

They refuse to talk about player deficiencies and doing something about them. They act as though everything is hunky dory and one player will fix all things .

Personally im over the b/s and spin its time for honesty and action and doing something about the list and players we have.
Go to the draft tiges stop the half measures do what has to be done make those tough decisions and get over yourselves.

I have grave fears for just how bad we can become and still have all the hacks we have  and then need to dump them in compromised drafts.

In many ways they are all in on the back of one draft 2024 and spurning the opportunity to build badly needed depth in a lot of areas. While ignoring the need to cut deadwood.

I have a line thru Ryan, OH-B, Sonsie, Ralphsmith, Rioli, Green, Trezise, Lefau, Banks, Short, Burton. Clareke and Gibcus  are unknowns and we have no idea if the injuries and time out of the game has stuffed them they too could be gone at the end of 2027. and we know Vlastuin Lynch Nankervis Hopper are short term we really should have their replacements developing.
Its no good cutting hard at the end of 2027 the calls need to be made now its just good old common sense and logic.

I suppose if they cut deep their problem is they then have to admit they have got so much wrong. The good of the club or self preservation which is it to be?

Just about all the midfield eggs are in one small basket Smillie injuries?  Hotton, Lalor and Cumming. Hopper is 30 Taranto 29 and Ross and McAuliffe round it out its criminally short of what we need and no one  seems to give a toss.

Just do what needs to be done tiges cut hard and embrace the nd hard this year. then we can start looking at f/a and trades and cover areas where mature bodies and experience are needed.

Their best 23 is already good. They have young players in line already.

Merret and King when you were a kick out of the grand final no brainer.

Thought it was reasonably cheap

Richmond is the leading candidate for Fremantle wingman Nathan O’Driscoll who is seeking a trade.

The 24-year-old played 17 games this year for the Dockers

It’s hard to see Blakey wanting to move from a contender to bottom two clubs Essendon and Richmond. That’s despite Blakey’s links to former coach and the Bombers’ new general manager of performance, John Longmire.

Even if Blakey had an appetite to join those teams, would they want to trade future first-round picks (even in compromised drafts with Tasmania) when they’re likely to finish in the bottom few spots on the ladder again?

Would do future first for Blakey.

Would give the flexibility to overlook mellody and target hvh.

Hb. Blakey. Balta. Grlj.
C. Retschko. Lalor. NoD

Ob. Hvh/Briggs.

Sounds like he is off to geeling however.

If Blakey wants to move that badly, surely he will go where the check is biggest....success is all good and well when the option is there, but if it's not, get the best deal for yourself and move on.
Would happily have him out the backline.

Suspect he is owed around $6m over the next 5 years, after which he will be 31y6m old approx, so he's guaranteed good money already but a club like us would have the space to sweeten it somewhat.

Wouldn't be offering him too silly money to come though.

Imagine if we got Blakey (we won't) and we get his Tiger Jumper pick at the G with the Pullman Hotel in the background.
