But that way you wouldn’t get a HVH profile of player.

If you take HVH first you’ll almost certainly get either Butler or Tex who are very similar profile players of equatable talent.

You might. Lots of talk Melbourne want a small forward type and Tex would fit in pretty well.

Some chat wce take butler over mellody if he is there too.

I’m not concerned about the eagles going for HVH, taking rucks in top5 in back to back drafts would be unheard of. The dees are the only ones that would snap him up (assuming bombers don’t take him at 1).

If the recruiters are happy to miss out on him then so be it, but if they rate him then I think the strategy has to be take him at 2 and whichever of the mid/fwds are left at 5.

I’m stoked we picked up another top end draft pick. The top 8 players in this draft seem like top shelf players so getting 2 of them is huge for us ahead of a compromised draft in 2027.
With some luck we can get Smillie on the park early and Gibcus gets a decent run at it.
It might be a tough season ahead re wins and losses but I also think it the core youngsters stay healthy we’ll see some exciting footy.

WCE trading out a F2 and sliding another F2 for a couple of mature bodies, so it seems they've been listening to the claw. But then so have we, with Briggs and O'D.

Honestly I really like the way WCE are building their list

Nailing their good picks
Bringing in some bodies to protect the kids
Targeting leadership with their pricier trades

Mini doing a good job IMO. Happy for him.

Blair Hartley explains the importance of our trade for pick No.5 in this year's draft, and the challenges facing next year's draft

Watch here: https://x.com/Richmond_FC/status/2110297097471938685

------------------------

On the trade with Port Adelaide to secure pick No.5 in this year's draft (via AFL Trade Radio)...

"These deals don't happen overnight. I've been speaking to Jason [Cripps, Power list manager] a lot this year throughout, obviously, what was happening with Zak [Butters], and then, we are always looking for opportunities to maximise.

Sitting in the futures game on Grand Final Day, and we looked down and 23 of the 46 that are on the field we don't have access to due to a variety of reasons, father-son, academy, NGA, Tasmania access, and then throw on top of that, seven of the 13 for the first round of the draft next year are out with Tasmania already.

That's 30 out of 46 we are looking like we can't get access to.

Whereas, on the other hand, for Port Adelaide, those picks really do have some value with some father-son and academy access they have for them next year.

I think it works out well for both parties.

Rhy Gieschen, our recruiting team, Oliver Grant, having Nick Austin back on board, they've been hard at work the last few weeks and been putting all sorts of pressure on us to end up with those couple of picks inside five."

Hartley believes the Tigers have made "pretty positive off-field changes with Selwyn Griffith [High Performance Manager] coming on board and Brett Ratten [Head of Coaching and Strategy]".

He added getting the list healthy and on the field playing together will be "exciting for our fans".

Sorry Blair but you really should’ve consulted first with crawski
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

That line about not having access to 30 of the currently top ranked 46 players for next years draft class is pretty telling.

Been mentioned a few times.

Without question one of the bigger gettable fish next year I'd Tom Green.

GWS are starting a rebuild. Toby, Whitfield, Briggs and Hogan all pushed out. You'd be seriously considering what on earth GWS are doing competing with Tassie building a list now. So if strongly argue that RFC are closer to premiership tilt then GWS.

We have more money in salary cap. Bigger club. In Vic. Boyhood club/links.

The only thing GWS have over us is loyalty but surely enough big fish have moved on to show players that destination clubs are more valuable then loyalty these days. Butters and Toby perfect examples this year.
.
Green is 26 next year. Maybe 6-7 years left in him. GWS may never play finals in his time again. Where as we should be in 3 in 2030. He knows Briggs, probably some link with Taranto who will be captain you'd imagine. Even with the idea that Tom could be our next captain after Taranto.

It's an easy sell compared to GWS. Just a matter of whether a Geelong or Carlton post Cripps can sell their story better then us.

Should be priority number 1 in FA along with a key back. Go get him Blair.

Green
Taranto
Cumming
Lalor
Smillie
Hotton/Butler

Fair 2 sets of rotating 3 for your midfield going forward.
Go Tigers!

Elijah Tsatas’ AFL career has a pulse.

A few clubs have inquired about the delisted 21 year old in the aftermath of trade period - with some confidence building that he may snag a list spot for 2027. More on @7NewsMelbourne tonight.

That rumour comes from this Zerohanger article.

Pairing delisted free agents with a new AFL team for 2027

Aidan Cellini
zerohanger.com

Here we've listed promising delisted free agents and a club that could suit their services.

George Stevens

Richmond

The bullocking Geelong midfielder showed plenty of promise in the short time he spent at AFL level, which wasn't his fault, as bypassing Patrick Dangerfield, Tom Atkins, Bailey Smith and Max Holmes is hard to do.

Stevens played two games in 2025 and this year, and found plenty of the ball, including his memorable debut against Richmond, which earned him a Brownlow vote.

A rebuilding club that needs midfield support like Richmond should consider the youngster, who spent considerable time at a well-run organisation.
