the "crunch" game
« on: July 04, 2006, 08:21:03 AM »
well we now can eliminate the game v the pies.

is this week going to be our so called crunch game???

it may , but i have a sneaky feeling that terry and the tigers will go into this game expecting a win taking us to 8-6, so my guess is the game v the dees on the mcg will be our crunch game! if say we beat port , then take on the dees and win that, that would take us to 9-6 and give the boys enough confidence to fight for and hold a spot in the 8

its great to dream, but with hard work and sticking to the wallace game plan(a,b,c,d or e  ;D)would get us there imo

I'd laugh if he made the doggies game the "crunch" one. That would really stir up the poor doggie fans that are still bitter about Wallace and Browny leaving lol.

Like your thinking X but I'm not sure if he'll make the Dees match it. They are in red hot form and unless they have an off night they should beat us (although that's what I said about the Crows  :wallywink ).

i know what u mean, the crunch game is usually a game we can win, good way to boost confidence and moral too. it could be the saints game at the g also! who knows, we may not even have one this yr til the last rnd, tezza may hold it back to rnd 22 where a win v the eagles may guarantee us a finals birth

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the game against the Saints.

Talking about hoodoos we need to break - a victory over those over-rated bunch pretenders and their moronic smug supporters would do nicely I reckon :thumbsup

I couldnt agree more WP
Those saints supporters have slowly been getting on my nerves fo a few years now.
Considering adding them to my hate list of the bumbers and the eddiewood supporters

We have a tough month coming up, but our boys can do it. :gotigers
I think we can win against Port, we did it last year, but I can't remember if that was at AAMI or not, but anyway I think we can do it :D And the game against the Saints is definately winnable  ;D

The Doggies humiliated us, so that would be my crunch match
They need to redeem for that display or lack of one.

I have a couple of suggestions and they are all start with "cr" too

How about "crash game" ...hmmm nah

lets try "crank it up game"...nup

maybe"cripple your opponent game"...nope

hmm..ive seen a few of them in my time FF
i think its best that all this crunch game stuff is kept in house and thus no media pressure or public expectation can be built up.

Agree Tailz and I think keeping it inhouse is how it is meant to be. However it only takes one person to leak it out to the public though.

I think publising the crunch game is a must.

I love the idea of players staff and supporters pumping themselves up for a big one.

At Richmond we seem to run into every team which has a milestone game and we get pumped its great that even for one game a year we give our opposition some pressure back.

Simply it works.

Thats where i think TW is so awesome for this club in terms of the spin he puts on particular games,HT

eg the basketball stuff bw him and sheeds has already guaranteed a huge build up and massive crowd when we play the bumbers in that up coming Hot August Night game

Also just having a nice ole sling at the eddiewood fans about their treatment of newman has put more edge onto the next time we play the cold pies(hopefully to a packed MCG in a final in September)

He is a masterful media performer and im loving it!

Write either R17 or 18 in your diary. Depending on how the Saints or Dogs go over the next few weeks they look the mostly likely for the "crunch" game given we'll be fighting for a final 8 spot with them and we meet them both at the 'G.

if say we beat melb, then our crunch game maybe sydney, a win in sydney after a win in melb, will surely guarantee us a finals birth, but i agree , looks like it will be 17,or 18 at this stage
