we wont miss cogs
« on: July 09, 2006, 08:40:22 AM »
i have been abused for yrs now, explaining how cogs is very overrated and has poor disposal. yes he gets it , but he is just a right foot version of tivendale  just stronger!   as soon as he did his knee i felt sorry 4 him, just like i do with anyone who does a knee as i have had 3 recos!
but i looked at the positives, and thought this will open the door for foley and give him and krak more time in the middle.

so instead of having cogs in the middle winning th eball only to dispose of it in a mediocre way, we have foley. a faster, hungrier, and more skilled player than cogs. a player who wins a hard ball imo better than cogs! we also have krak in the middle at times, more nimble, as good a tackler  and awsome at winning a hard ball and has silky skills.

i know i will cop flak  but facts are facts, we have dominated clearances 2 weeks in a row without cogs, our midfield is faster without cogs.

imo when cogs recovers from his knee he will struggle to get back into the midfield permantly because  he will be overtaken by these fatster, more skillful players

as i have always said, one door shuts, others open

Another door certainly opens X

but i disagree about Cogs struggling for a spot, it will just make us a better team :thumbsup

what i mean struggling 4 a spot is that he will become a relieving midfielder. he will add to the team, but maybe take tivs role or a tagging role and releave sugar . but i dont feel he will become a main onballer 4 us, i reckon guys like foley, hyde, tuck, lids, bling, krak, will be in there b4 him, i see a spot 4 raines in there to in the future, maybe raines and cogs will reverse roles in the future

Have you ever thought that you bring it upon yourself?

Guess you must be a closet Cogs fan after all, because for a player you supposedly don’t rate, you seem to spend a lot of time and effort trying to discredit him.

We got smashed in the clearances against Hawthorn after Cogs went off early.

We need all our inside midfielders. Opposition coaches know about Cogs so they target him. He has the runs on the board. Same with Tucky. Foley will cop the same treatment of being battered from pillar to post if he keeps this form up. If you don't rotate them through the guts they will struggle to last through a whole season. That's been a problem at Richmond for a long long time. We haven't had the midfield depth.

true and since then we played the pies and port, both better teams than the hawks and we smashed them in the clearances without cogs, wait and see, hopefully no more injuries 4 us, but we will travel better without him, just gotta somehow get tiv to do a hammy  so we can get another bad footskilled player off the ground. not being harsh, sometimes one has to be very cruel to be kind

i have been abused for yrs now,
:nopity :nopity

no need 4 violins, my skin is thick as is my head!

but how gr8 has it been watching the footy and not seeing cogs kick those hospital floating passes and missing targets. so far the midfield  has a 100% success rate without cogs

Let's wait and see how our midfield goes against the Dees friday night before writing off an injured Cogs.

And Thursty
and Knobel. Simmo can't be expected to do it all on his own every time. Big men are hard to find and need time taken to develop. Patto has a way to go in this regard but IMO shows promise.

newman yes
cogs no!!

we did not lose the game in the midfield apart from tucks pathetic game
we lost the game because of our turnovers , had nothing to do with missing cogs

We missed natural footballers with a footy brain. That's why we missed Cogs. We were 2 kicks behind every play with our thinking all night  :banghead
