You dont give up Richo to move up 5 or 6 places...you send Richo to a club that offers a 1st round pick on its own without sending your first pick the other way and irrespective of that, I dont think we would trade him at this stage. We should package up a group of 3 or 4 players for North to consider as a package, the same for Carlton as see what happens. To be honest, I dont think we will get a top 4 pick.

The days of Fremantle trading pick number 2 for Chris Bond are over.

To get a number one pick we'd have to trade away something pretty valuable. You ain't gonna get anything below pick number 40 for Tiv, Krak, Hall or Rodan.

The issue is going up 4 or 5 spots not taking another 1st rounder. Fremantle coughed up 3 picks for Carr lol.

To get say a Judd, you would have to give pick 1 and 2 plus a player.

But if we did trade for the first pick then we would have to chose between midfielder Gibbs or KPP Gumbleton or Hansen. Most of us think we need a KPP this draft so would Wallace be able to resist Gibbs?

I wouldn't want us to do it. Basically you're swapping a current player for another even if the kid maybe classier. There's no major gain to our depth. What we want is to gain an extra first round pick or two if we traded away someone decent so we can pick up a few quality kids in one go like we did in 2004.

You should always go for best available. Now unless you believe the midfielder will be in the Judd or Hodge class (a silky skilled ball-winning midfielder for the next 10 years) then pick the KPP.

After the championships I rated them (as I believe they will be called)

1. Gumbleton
2. Gibbs
3. Hansen
4. Thorp

As I said Sheeds wont do it...hes taking the pee but if it was possible Id make it happen with players like a Hartigan and Tivendale and our 1st pick.
Sheedy needs depth. We need stars!

Id be right into North as well. Theyre hopeless at Arden Street. Laidley seems tough but also seems able to be swayed and the need to keep North competitive. This pressure will be highlighted further because of the Gold Coast move and the need to be successful. Package up Krakouer, Hall and a couple of others and see what happens...Now what would you do with picks 1 & 3 lol.
