Rich vs Melb / the wash up after the loss

Margin flattered us
Melbourne is a 6 or 7 goal better side in reality
Polo was great again!
Deledio was very good.
Wallace had a good game plan. Without Wallace wed have lost by 40 or 50 points
Great Crowd. 60,083 people. 25,000 ahead of budget. Hopefully big improvement on the bottom line from the game.
Bowden will get 2 weeks
Both Bowdens were poor
Most players were poor tonight but the kids are providing the hope.
My list of non Richmond Premiership Players has not changed  ;D

Margin flattered us
Melbourne is a 6 or 7 goal better side in reality
* Melbourne played well but couldn't put us away when they should have
* Melbourne are three years in advance of us
* I expected a better result on current form, but I was also aware that with a young side it could also be disastrous
* While disappointed, was not surprised.

Most players were poor tonight but the kids are providing the hope.
That's the important part.  It was the Polos, Rainses, Deledios that were showing the way, not relying on the seniors to show some leadership.  The leadership is coming from the kids.  And even if they stuff up like Foley might have or Raines might have with miskicks, etc, they're the ones that are actually having a go, will learn from their mistakes and are talented enough at such an early age to know that the long term looks great, even if this week is a disappointment.

Going to bed, emotionally and physically stuffed.
And one too many reds lol

Oh Dear!  :banghead

I wasn't expecting us to win but I still expected the side to turn up and do the basic things like chase, tackle, be first to the footy and go in hard and RUN and support one another  >:(. Too many passengers ballwatching and expecting someone else to do the hard work  :banghead. A few too many heard footsteps out there too.

It was a repeat of the Hawthorn game before the bye - we were lazy and mentally not switched on. Our skill level and decision making was pathetic. It was a step back to the brainless ring-a-rosy crap we played under Spud. As Moi pointed out it was mostly the senior blokes that let us down.

So disappointing to once again act like scared rabbits in headlights on the big stage. The most frustrating thing is the Dees were off their game too in a shocking match. They probably should have won by 7 goals but we had more inside 50s than them. We got our hands on enough of the footy but just coughed it straight back to them time and time again by not going for the the first pen option immediately. We'd hang onto the footy until everyone was manned up then kick to straight to a Demon  :scream. I think the paper said 26 clanger kicks, the 7th highest on record or something. Bloody pathetic  ::).

Gas - we all know his kicking deficiencies but he did his job well on Neitz. Can't blame him for the loss.

Lids - one of the better tigers but missed two gettable goals. If Joel gets reported then so too should Johnstone for cowardly going in with his knees  >:(.

Raines - like Lids one of the better Tigers.

Simmo - probably broke even with White although White had more hitouts.

Browny - shocker. 5 clangers. It looked like last year was playing on his mind. Whelan gave him a bath.

Joel - shocker. A blast from the past back to the old brain implosions. The Tiger faithful haven't forgotten their old "comments" for Bowden - "get him off" and "are you playing for the opposition Bowden" lol. I don't know why Terry played him on Robertson  :o.

Richo - Mirrored the team. Missing for 3 quarters then finished strongly when it was all too late.

Schulz - Opposite to Richo - good early then struggled and spent time on the bench. Not sure how you're meant to play well at FF with idiots upfield zig-zagging instead of going long and direct. Terry we can't have both Sarge and Richo deep. One has to play CHF and present outside 50.

Polo - Best Tiger. One of the few Tigers to run into space and provide an option. Too bad his teammates have no peripherial vision to see him all alone in the centre of the MCG for half an hour calling for the footy and waving his arms like a duck  :banghead.

Pettifer - Argh! Another one who had a blast to the bad old past. Very soft tonight Petts.

Paddy - so so. Didn't do anything damaging all the disposals he got.

Sugar - Great job on Johnstone but no offensive affect on the game.

Tuck - Shocker. Repeat of the Hawthorn game.

Patto - Quiet. Needs to learn not telegraph his passes with up and under kicks.

Krak - Shocker. He can't afford to have these non-existent games. I'm not expecting starring roles like the past two weeks every week but he needs to at least be solid.

Blingers - Quiet. Lacked intensity at the footy.

Hyde - Shocker.

Tivs - Shocker. The ball is meant to stay inside the boundary line Tivs. Kept well away from Pickett lol.

White - Still learning. Not the worst out there.

Kellaway - A rare Tiger to put his body on the line last night.

Moore - Sadly I just don't think he's up to the AFL level.

Foley - One of better Tigers.

Hopefully in keeping with our losses so far this year we'll come out firing the following week against the Swannies.

i honestly think schilz and richo cannot play up fwd together. its time jay went down back and play on a key defender. he should have played on robertson, imo.

anyway we played crap , but only lost by 3 goals, ok it may have flattered us , but it was only 3 goals .
richo is not far away, thats 4 sure!
but lets talk positives rather than negatives.

imo snake won the ruck battle.
moore was fantastic on yze
polo was fantastic on green i mean bruce
sugar killed johnston
gas was awesome on neitz esp cos neitz has had teh edge over him in past yrs
white did a gr8 job on davey
foley just continues to show he has king size balls
richo started to find touch as the game went on
deledio was better than last week but his kicking and decision making let him down
pattison imo played a good game and is developing nicely.

we cant win every game but a pleasing thing was we didnt giove up and get blown away. the boys looked a bit tired, i feel the week in adel took alot out of them esp after a week in teh rain v the pies.

the game was bad but there are still positive signs

Yeah I saw that  :banghead Maybe if he let off a flare they would have seen him...
Pretty poor game, so many turnovers and errors, good to see our youngsters standing up though.

He did, Foley spent time on Green
My parents bought me a Richmond jumper and enrolled me in a junior footy clinic in 1981...look at me now.

They both can't play deep together as it's too predictable and it's simple for opposition defences to pick them off. We needed Richo to run Holland around across the HF line and straighten us up. Richo played further up the ground against Port and it worked well with Sarge deep at FF.

We kept falling down entering our forward line because we were forced slow and wide going for "safe" kicks and Melbourne was able to get numbers back to flood our 50. Daniher last night attacked us for flooding but Daniher was doing same to us ::). We had more entries than the Demons but just one contested mark inside 50.

We didn't have the quick movement of the footy, pinpoint skill level and decision making to break open the Melbourne defence until Holland went off and we went more direct in the last 15 minutes of the game. That's when Richo got on top. But by then it was all too late.

Not too fussed about last nights match. Agree with Terry when he said that the side is young and well have occasional brain lapses like the one last night.

On a side note, Foley has to get the Rising Deledio nomination this week otherwise the nominations are as poo as KB is biased lol  :rollin

Thats what I don't get! They are all saying that the MCG is a big ground and Richmond had trouble flooding!!

IMO Melbourne was the team that was flooding flat out, thats just a television watchers point of view though.

Petts was undisciplined, Foley was great, no star players for either team really stood out, it was the battle of the no-names.

Sarge in the forward line for me, takes a great grab (he was robbed when that mark was called a ball-up) and he kicks the ball straighter than an asians fringe.

And you may not think I care for you

Haha no one around me was happy when Sarge didn't get paid that mark, we all stood and chanted Bulls**t
Good to see young Polo featuring in the votes though.
