I personally don't think so. Didn't look that bad. But if there is a risk i'd rather rest him for the rest of the year

David King is on 3aw now and agrees Bluey. They said Browny did a pretty stock standard hammy so no reason he won't be back in 3 weeks.

I reckon they should just bite the bullet and get the rod taken out of his leg now. Gives him more time to get ready and prepare for next season.

Thoughts?

With only 5 weeks to go Browny would only play at the most the last 2 games anyway if he does come back. With the finals gone I agree Bully. Write the season off, play the kids and give Browny the time to get fully right for 2007.

Reckon it's smart to take the rod out and give Browny a rest for the rest of the season

Sports Tonight interviewed Browny and it looks like he'll be put on ice for the rest of the year. See ya back right and ready for 2007 champ  :thumbsup.

Ch 9 replayed Browny's interview today and he said it's probably best to have the rod taken out and get a good fitness base under him ready for next year.

Round 17 medical room
31 July 2006   Herald-Sun
Peter "Doc" Larkins

NATHAN BROWN

DIAGNOSIS
(HAMSTRING): Brown sustained his first major hamstring tear while sprinting on the lead for a mark during the second quarter of Saturday's match. He immediately left the field and was in considerable pain from the muscle tear.

DOC SAYS...
He is likely to undergo scans but at this stage the injury is expected to see him miss a minimum of 3-4 matches. It is likely Richmond will consider removing the metal rod from Brown's right shin during this absence in order for him to concentrate on the 2007 pre-season.
