Bulldogs Game Thread

We only seemed competitive in the last quarter.  Our skills were terrible today.  What's wrong with Pettifer?  Up till the last quarter he seemed to be lacking in confidence.  A blue with the umpires at the end of the third quarter seemed to fire him up (even if he did get reported).  I thought Chaffey did ok today.  Howat had a pretty good debut.  Players either need to line up with their opponents or at least back up their own team mates.  Foley and Raines at least have a go.  What was wrong with Deledio as he spent a lot of the second half on the bench, or so it seeme.  How many times we did stuff up easy goals by poor decision making?

I thought we dominated the second and last quarters but failed to convert it onto the scoreboard especially in the second. We should have been at least level with the Dogs at half-time on general play.

Poor quality game though. The doggies in particular Ray made many mistakes bringing themselves down to our level. We just made more.

Lids was off with some injury before coming back on according to Ch 10.

After quarter time we actually tried to play decent modern footy as far as running and carrying the ball which was a vast improvement on the previous 3 weeks. Problem was we have blokes who can't hit even basic targets. Chaffey defensively was alright but he couldn't hit someone on the full with a pass :scream. At this level you can't just pop it up and bounce it in front of your leading teammate.

Tambling, Raines and Krak were the sparks that got us going. Blingers finally used his pace to advantage and matched it with intensity which has been missing the last month.

Richo worked his guts out as usual. He was totally stuffed by the end.

Hopefully Pettifer's last quarter is a sign he's rediscovered his early season form even if he gets rubbed out.

Two things that bothered me, (well there were more than two!)....Richo seemed to pull his arm back in to avoid the ball hitting it??? and Pettifers grab around the neck of his opponent and flinging him to the fence. The guy didn't have the ball and petts was lucky the umpires didnt see it, totally unwarranted.

We get killed in the clearances, we have too many skill errors that result in turnovers and we just can't convert on the scoreboard  :scream
Everytime we turned it over the Dogs got inside 50 and most of the time goaled  :scream
