Tigers have plenty to strive for over the next month

Richmond coach Terry Wallace

There has been a fair bit of publicity recently about AFL clubs, who are out of the finals race, resting players for the remainder of this season and sending them in for operations or rehab. to enable them to be fully fit for the opening round of 2007.

I am very strong on not wanting our supporters to give away the last four weeks of this season. We need their collective voice and numbers in droves at games, as that is what makes Richmond such a fascinating club.

No-one is more passionate in support of their team than the Yellow and Black faithful. And, if we do not expect Tiger fans to give away the season, how can we be showing that we have given it away ourselves, by putting players in cotton wool!

Further in the Article Tezza says that another thing to consider is blokes are playing for their professional careers.

You would hope decisions on players' futures won't be swayed that much by the next 3 weeks. We play three of the bottom 6 sides and especially if we win all of them those games shouldn't be allowed to deflect attention away from team and individual inadequacies and deficiencies against the top sides.

Our record this year is 2-9 against the top 8 teams including 3 100-point hidings and  6-1 against the other bottom 8 sides of which four we won by narrow margins.

I agree heaps to strive for. 4 losses in a row and some decent opposition results and we get pick no 4 in the national draft according to my faithfully rigged ladder predictor ;D

Contracts have a big say in who goes or stays. Rodan is contracted till next year so unless some other club wants him which is highly unlikely he'll be at Richmond next year unless we pay him out.
