Jimmy Jess wants to be an assistant coach
« on: June 30, 2004, 12:27:33 PM »
As reported in "The Pulse" in todays herald sun, Jimmy Jess has expressed his interest in returning to the club in some sort of assistants job if it was available.

He has been quoted as say " there should be more Richmond people working as assistants".

I think the Ghost would be a great addition, been in footy for years and would have a great understanding and knowledge of the game. Always played with a bit of grunt which would be something that he could pass onto to our players also.

Proud, tough, uncompromising and courageous.... qualities that we as a club despearately need.

Would be worth considering IMO.

What's the Ghost up to these days coaching wise? Apologies for playing the devil's advocate but as much as it would be great to have a Richmond person uch as Jimmy Jess on our coaching staff, I presume he has been out of the AFL scene for 15 years or so now.

Here’s part of what the article in “The Pulse” says MT.

“Richmond champion Jimmy Jess is interested in returning to Punt Rd in a coaching role.

Now 49, Jess is coaching Robe in South Australia and playing the occasional game.

“Ghost” has played/coached in several leagues since retiring in 1988 and there has been no shortage of flags.”

Jess has been a country coach for ages. Good to see that some ex tigers would rather get their hands dirty and help the club out than sit back an criticise like the rest of us do.

LOL

well done Jimmy, hope the club keeps an open mind in finding some position for you.

Cheers TS. I see Robe won the premiership last year.
