A Current Affair trash
« on: August 28, 2006, 06:56:46 PM »
Watching a story tonight on young women spending a fortune trying to emulate their TV, movie idols etc. - copying clothes, getting boob jobs, botox, etc, etc, etc.

And ACA go tsk tsk tsk, how awful.  But every time i turn on that trashy show, it's all about dieting, where to get the best boob job, and as i'm typing this, they've got an item on a suit that makes you slimmer lol

I'm glad I'm old, fat and wrinkly lol - so much pressure on kids to look the part and be "acceptable". Poor deluded things

And what ever happened to current affairs - thing of the past!

I don't watch it (I like to sleep in lol) but "Sunday" is Ch 9's real current affairs show. Problem is hardcore current affairs doesn't rate while journos with their foot jammed in doors exposing con merchants, push-up bras and the latest miracle cures that get sick peoples hopes up but never see the light of day, do. People don't want to hear Politicians waffling on and on.

Haven't watched CA shows for a long time, I remember I didn't mind Landline or Foreign correspondent many years ago.

Give me Australian Story or Foreign Correspondent any day. :thumbsup ACA and TT are basically New Idea/Womans Day on the tube. LMAOOOOO@when one does a story and the other follows up the next week with the same story with just different reporters. Current Affairs died the Day hard hitting studio interviews stopped and they started being hosted by Bimbo's like Naomi Robson who are experts at stating the obvious. :banghead

Doesn't matter how much window dressing you put around a plate of turds, the fact is, it's still a plate of turds.

Geez tiga, for the first time ever the Yabbie Jeans sausage analogy seems appetising to me.  ;D

Yeah but 7 expertly deflected criticism by staging their 50 years of Television extravaganza. :rollin Now that was a disgraceful event. :chuck
LMAOOOOOO@ 7 getting John Wood who can't actually sing, to close the show with a song!  :whistle

LMAOOOO@ Mel and Kochie doing a cross to Sonia Kruger at Star City to interview the Dancing Judges only to see the tape spinning wildly in reverse.  :lol

Credit to David Campbell though for soldiering on during his performance after flinging off his leather Jacket and sending his foldback earpiece into orbit in the process.  :lol

I only watched about 20 minutes of it which was enough. A total comedy of production errors.

And these are the guys who are going to be presenting our beloved game next year.  :pray

I've been home most this week with the lurgy so I've caught some of ACA's latest hard hitting stories:

Last night was Greg Evans not realising he was still on and telling the world he was not finding his hosting job on 3MP to be easy listening music  ;). Never heard those lyrics before in Bill Haley and the comets' rock around the clock  ;D. What an idiot.

The night before was some guy genuinely complaining that he hadn't received one cent from the $20 million "promised" by a "Nigerian politician" in an email  :wallywink. They had the usual Benny Hill chase down the street. The journo doing the story, despite having a truck, somehow ran out of breath while the guy they were chasing was on foot the whole time and kept running like he was a marathon runner. Funny as  :rollin

Last night was Greg Evans not realising he was still on and telling the world he was not finding his hosting job on 3MP to be easy listening music  ;). Never heard those lyrics before in Bill Haley and the comets' rock around the clock  ;D. What an idiot.

RADIO station 3MP is in damage control after a racial slur by fill-in host Greg Evans went to air on the breakfast show yesterday.
In the middle of a song, the radio and TV veteran was heard to say: "Bloody hell. We do have a lot of curry-eating listeners."

Evans, who was filling in this week while regular breakfast host John Burgess takes a fortnight's holiday, thought he was off-air.

3MP group general manager Barrie Quick said the gaffe was regrettable and yesterday apologised to listeners.

"The comments made on air have been taken seriously and we are dealing with it internally," he said.

"The network and Greg sincerely apologise if the comments have offended any of our loyal listeners."

TV announcer Shaun Cosgrove will fill in as host in the breakfast slot next week.

Mr Quick said Evans was only asked to fill in this week and Cosgrove was always going to sit in the chair in the second week of Burgess's leave.

Burgess returns to the microphone on November 27.

The comments by the former Perfect Match host were broadcast in Melbourne only.
