Other clubs trash - would you buy at a car boot sale?
« on: September 05, 2006, 06:19:58 PM »
So these are the names that are being touted as possible targets.  Would you want any and why?  (you can vote more than one option).

Personally, I would like McDougall and Polak, but cheap.

No to Polak and Gardiner. Don't need to bring baggage to the RFC.

I can't see Everitt fitting into Punt Road due to his age and vying for Simmo's position as No 1 ruckman. Will do well at a club that is premiership tilt mode - Swans, Saints, Dogs and Pies.

Pass on McDougall. If you can't play FF with Judd, Cousins and co feeding you lace out then you never will. We're pretty  taken with younger forwards in any case. We need good key defenders instead.

You would worry about Michael's desire to play now days. If you knew that he was mentally and physically switched on to play FB then he would be handy for a year or two but it looks like he could give the game away at any moment.

Kingsley lol

Aker along with Everitt would be only ones out of the lot of them that you'd be confident on performing. In Aker's case  at least as a mid-sized crumbing forward who can push occasionally into the midfield. Problem again is he is on the wrong side of his peak like Everitt.

Can I pass on all of them?!  lol

MT, of course you can pass on all of them.

Unless they were bargain basement trades (3rd round or higher) or a PSD pick, then I would pass on all of them.

We have to use picks 8 and 26 on decent players in this draft.

Problem is with those names touted above, the clubs they come from will be keen to get at least 2nd round picks

I steer clear of trash & treasure markets, LT.
I like to buy new.

Having said that, if someone had 2 BMW's so wanted to sell the Passat I'd look at upgrading my Commodore if the price was reasonable. I'd get an RACV check done to be as sure as possible it wouldn't end up giving me grief.

Polak .

Out of that lot I'd probably only be interested in Aker - I cannot believe I just said (typed) that  ;D

Definitely a big NO to both Polak and Gardiner

Akermanis would be the most likley to go after, but I think the cost in the finish will be too much for us.

Plough apparently said last night that we aren't after Gardiner or Spider so we can cross their names off.

What about Clark Keating?

Given the flick by the Lions today, may not be a bad option in the pre-season draft. Could replace Stafford and maybe also allow us to try and trade Knobel.

Martin Pike and Flea were really talking up his chances of coming to Punt Road tonight. Pikey reckons he could kick 40 goals out of a forward pocket/changing into the ruck.

Any takers as a bargain basement pick up?

Spyder as a permanent 4ward would be worth 40+
Same as Aker.

That's close to 100 goals more per year than we already kick.

I would take any of these if they were going in a car boot sale  :thumbsup

Although I think Trent Croad Alan Didak Josh Fraser or Hamish McIntosh wont be throwing any of them away to soon  :(

Pass on McDougall, see a fair bit of him at Perth in the WAFL.  Unable to break or take a pack mark with any regularity, prefers to take to take chest marks rather than extend arms forward.  When he does decide to extend will inevitably flat hand a lot of easy lace-up ball.  Reasonable conversion rate when kicking for goal, but if WCE can't develop him in 5 seasons, what do RFC think they can do in at least 2 years ?

Polak = pass!!!!

What about the Bradshaw rumours ??  Is there a genuine play occuring behind the scenes ?
