Terry Wallace - interviewed last friday afternoon

* September as busy as any other time of year for the coaches due to list managment, organising preseason training etc.

* Hope Richmond supporters believe we've been transparent via the RFC site with what we've done (inference to Chubba). They deserved to know what goes on around the club.

* Anytime he believed there needed to an education to the masses he's gone public - eg: defending Tigers who are whipping boy amongst media and supporters.

* Went through the article he wrote about the Kellaway decision - believed we needed to open up positions to the young guys coming through. Would we be a better side in the next 12 months? - maybe/maybe not. More run and carry and faster side but on the other hand we may lack experience etc. Not making these decisions impedes our chances of building a successful side.

* Rules state you need to turnover the list. Sacking people is never enjoyable. Something wrong if you feel comfortable sacking people. More comfortable removing a senior player that you know what he can and cannot do than a kid with just a few years under his belt.

* Used Hawthorn in the 80s as an example. Older champions moved on (like himself and Eade) to bring in younger players.

* Last year not so difficult with the list changes. This year more difficult. Most blokes back themselves in and despite taps on the shoulder through the year to improve they are still shocked when told. 8 players told we haven't finalised our list. Some may go from a senior list to a rookie one, delistings, trades.

* Thought Sheahan's article that our season depended on our last game was fanciful. All games worth the same 4 points. It would have been good to have a good result in round 22 and the last thing we wanted was what we got. Amazed about how much talk in the media on one game - our last game. So negative when we had 14 guys out. Ludicrous by Mike. If we had our full side then maybe there'd have been more merit.

* Pre-Christmas training sessions sorted out in the next few days. When the draw comes out will organise and set-out post-Xmas preseason training sessions and the actual 2007 season. He's never been reactive after a game  like extra runs next day.

* Outside your record is judged on win-loss rather than where you started from. So far we are more advanced. Far more 10 year players on the horizon that this time last year. We're not too far away. Carlton even made advances in the past 12 months despite winning less games (played more kids).

* Matty White - 10 games in his first year. Up and down at senior level. Handled VFL extremely well. Exciting type.

* JON - attitude second to none. Doesn't drink. Sculled a coke on Mad Monday. 10 year player running off half-back. Super athlete.

* Hughes - expectations to great - "Why aren't we playing Clever at CHF?" His body is not ready yet. Taste of everything - AFL, VFL, VFL ressies. Clever and Patto will come through as good players.

* Casserly - battled with injury thru the year meant his physcial development was limited. Will play HB/wing - typical running player. Only a baby footy terms. Talented.

* Sydney played the same 24-25 guys each week which helps build consistency. We haven't had that at all.

* Played the running game early on but didn't hang onto the footy well enough so copped a few beltings. So closed down shop for a while but not very exciting footy to play or watch and we don't want to play that way winning 9 goals to 6. So tried a more open running game again towards the end of the season and we played it well but got hammered by the Eagles as once again the running game left us wide open.

* What we need is to get the balance right b/w the open running game and the keepings off depending on momentum gained and lost.

* Adelaide win - two fold - supporters happy to get a win no matter what while the media and Sheeds thought it was the end of the world. A reasonable win IHO. Pies win was our best game easily. Geelong and Port were also good wins.

* We did a player survey mid-year. Numerous things he found fascinating and didn't agree with all of them. They asked for him to be more hands on and upfront with them - "traffic cop" role during offseason and training. Didn't hide from that. Balancing act with assistant coaches otherwise why have them. Senior coach is always there at preseason training. All improvements really start after the final game of the year.

* Wheadon - done a wonderful job at Richmond and thanked him for his efforts. Not a sacking. We just didn't renew his position. No club can just keep adding people on and on [tell that to the Pies Tezza lol]. To make change  people have to change. Believes in a 7 year rotation of assitants coaches to keep things fresh.

* Richo - injury basically ruined his year. We knew his wrist would get right but it only did 4 weeks from the end.

* Rainsey - fantastic effort to come second in the RS. Very consistent year.

* AA - doesn't expect anything like the RS. Simmo (around the ground) is worthy along with Lade (magician at stoppages and #1 in AFL)  and Cox. Joel is deserving as a backman. Rainesy 12 months away from that sort of thing. One ignored is Sugar. People just look at the numbers yet he's shut down Judd, Carr, Burgoyne. Super year.

* Thursty - can be a very good player for the club. Bright defender. 16 clubs bypassed him in the draft so he's come a fair way. No expectations on young guys. Doesn't believe the knee will effect him in the long run. Gas is a very good teacher and will help Thursty.

* We always want to make the top 8. Had a chance this year atfer 14 rounds when everyone wrote us off after round 3. We have internal KPIs to measure improvement; not just win/loss. No predictions as they just make you look silly. Most important thing is the graph keeps on heading up.

* Tiger Supporters - were hanging our for direction from the club and education about the club. Knowing more about the young guys - Lids, Tambo, Polo etc and seeing them develop and do their stuff. Not just about going to games to see Richo.

* Believes he is still in his honeymoon period. Later on the hunger will come out from supporters to deliver. It's up to us to have the pathway made that leads to success whether he's around or not.

Humm can't go back to the rookie list and Howat deserves to remain on the senior list so it must be someone already on the seniors list who will be demoted.

8 names including Chubba could be gone. Doesnt sound like that number includes Chaff and Staff either as they had already retired. A fair cleanout.
