After they beat us the first time I came on here and said they couldnt win the flag. Everyone thinks theyve got a super super list. I dont actually think thats correct.

They are slow in the midfield and some of there top midfielders are injury prone
There real leader Hammill is injury prone and basically stuffed
They get slaughtered in the rucks
They have alot of players ready to leave the game for which theyve taken no action to replace.

They need more than a new coach for mine.

Here here RT - I've been saying for ages the Saints list is over rated.

Thomas was never the man for the job but I don't think it matters who they get now they are't going to win a premiership in the next 3

This makes me very sad crap this makes me very HAPPY ;D :whistle :birthday :santa :cheers :bow :woohoo :woohoo :woohoo

Well said Ramps.

They had a super list or at least the makings of one but Thomas didn't build on it and did a Spud doing trades like Heath Black for Fiora  :rollin. They basically have the same core of players they did 4-5 years ago but are worse off now - no Penny, Jones, Black with Gehrig, Hamill, Harvey, Thompson, Hudghton, etc on their last legs.

Conrnflakes, you might have had a better side than Richmond under Spud but that's hardly something to hang your hat on  :wallywink.

The only thing I'm sad about with Thomas going is we won't have the chance to shove that "we are the better side" comment down his throat when the tide turns. We can still dish it out to those cocky Saint fans though who thought a flag was in the bag ... oops! ;D

Wouldn't surprise me. Ex-Saint plus he and Eddie McMisinformation don't seem to be flavour of the month.

A lot of pressure on whoever takes the job. If Thomas had a year to go on his contract and was given the kyber after making the finals for the past few years then anything less would have to be failure.

If Lindsay Fox is still involved at the saints, you might find that Spud will have some role. along with Ken Sheldon ;)
Directors of Footy etc

Growing up as a kid...I loved the week we'd play the saints. They were a rabble then and theyre a brothel now. It wont matter who coaches them, unless they fix there list they wont get the prize any time soon. Infact if they dont rectify the problems theyve got in the next 2 years, youll find clubs like ours and hawthorn will go past them in a hurry.

Thomas missed the boat on where the game was heading, and sadly a young kid like Ball was mismanaged- he'll be stuffed by the time hes 27-28.

Nevertheless Thomas sorted them out on a whole host of issues and for that they should be grateful. Weve had coaches who came to Punt Rd and left the place worse of than when they arrived. Atleast Thomas left the Sts better than what he found and for mine, thats actually a big part of analysing a persons work performance.  Coaches, players, administrators...they all need to have that as a basic principle...lets leave the place better than what we found! End of Rant!

Sounds like Sheldon has been in the pipeline for a while to take on a footy director role but seriously they'd have to be mad to want Spud overseeing their footy department. Good for us though if it happens lol.

Northey left us in better shape than when he arrived but as we found out it can quickly all disappear if the culture at the club is crook. As far as Thomas goes IMO yes they are better off than when he took over reigning wooden spooners but they are worse off than say this time 2 years ago.

The public spat by some of the players doesn't bode well for the Saints future if there is deepseated resentment towards the board and admin. A new coach especially one who is a debutant coming into that environment could easily be taking over a poison chalice.

Argh yes my mate Nick Reiwoldt - sooking again. "We are hurt and we're angry" - Who cares - you are paid to play footy (very well I might add) concentrate on that

It's all our fault lol.

The Saints board was also unimpressed by the club's failure to lure Troy Simmonds from Fremantle as part of the Heath Black trade two seasons ago. Thomas' team could not agree to terms with Simmonds and the Saints finished up with Aaron Fiora, while Richmond signed Simmonds to a controversial five-year deal.
