Clubs get bonus $1.2m per year; Tigers to receive an annual special distribution

The 16 AFL clubs will receive $449 million, a base distribution which covers all increases in Total Player Payments (TPP), plus a bonus distribution of $96 million ($6 million per club) - $1.2 million per annum per club - for 2007-11.

On top of that, several clubs with low supporter bases and inferior stadium deals, will gain extra funds in 2007, ranging from $9.7 million to $6.2 million.

As a result, the Kangaroos will gain $9.7 million and the Western Bulldogs will be given $9.1 million. West Coast, Collingwood, Fremantle, Adelaide and the Brisbane Lions will gain $6.2 million.

The number of clubs receiving Annual Special Distribution (ASD) funding will be expanded and include the Kangaroos, Western Bulldogs, Melbourne, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, Richmond and Carlton. The AFL will also fund Sydney's TPP cost of living allowance.

I think its a bad look that we are seen to be in the same boat as the bludgers of the comp like Melb and Bulldogs etc, they should have started up another fund name like 'Stadium Equalisation fund' ... I think its a disgrace that weve been chucked in with that rabble.

Yep the AFL has lobbed the CBF and the new stadia equalization monies all under the one ASD banner  . If we played far more games at the 'G and weren't taken for granted by the MCC after all these years with the current poor arrangements we wouldn't need it in the first place.

Going by what March was saying a month or so ago it's not like we would receive money most years anyway. Only in a poor year when the stadia returns were below a pre-specified level. For the Roos it would be every year due to their small supporter base.

I'm with you, Ramps & mt. They should have separated the funds.
I don't view North, Melb and the Dogs as bludgers but I reckon there's a stigma attached to being lumped in the same welfare group as them.

There's more of the breakdown of the monies in the Herald-Sun and Australian. $1.5 million for the redevelopment of Punt Rd Oval which we already knew about plus $400,000 from the Annual Special Distribution for uneven stadia deals.

Carlton is to receive $600,000 of annual special distribution as well as $3.45 million for redevelopment of Princes Park. Other facility upgrade deals include: St Kilda ($2.55 million for Moorabbin), Richmond ($1.5 million, Punt Rd), the Kangaroos ($1.5 million, Arden St) and the Bulldogs ($1.5 million, Whitten Oval).

Special financial assistance for clubs will increase with the Annual Special Distribution fund set to swell from $5.4m to $6.2m. The fund previously serviced four clubs - the Kangaroos ($1.4m), Bulldogs ($1.7m), Melbourne ($1m) and Sydney, ($600,000) - but it will now include Carlton ($600,000), Richmond ($400,000), Hawthorn ($250,000) and Port Adelaide ($250,000), mainly based on their uneven stadium deals.

Although we get "lumped" with other Clubs for special fund distribution I have absolutely no problem accepting the $$$.

Give us 11 home games or at least 9 home games at the MCG and we wont need the $$$$

Should they be seperate funds - most probably but credit must go to our Club who came up with this idea of assistance being given to Clubs with poor stadium deals in the first place.

Sorry but how the hell do the Hawks qualify for assistance under the poor stadium deal criteria?

Haven't they just sold their souls to the Tassie Govt to the tune of $15 mil with 4 home games a year down there? If they can't get crowds in Melbourne it's not because of the stadiums they play in but the fact that they CHOOSE to play home games interstate -

Haven't they just sold their souls to the Tassie Govt to the tune of $15 mil with 4 home games a year down there? If they can't get crowds in Melbourne it's not because of the stadiums they play in but the fact that they CHOOSE to play home games interstate - 

 

Because they are still classed as a MCG tenant despite wanting to be nomadic club .

The draw when it comes out will tells us if we'll be better off next year. The extra money is great and all but the game is won on the field and we should be entitled to play our home games at our home ground. Why should we continue to miss out when the Pies are promised 14 games at the 'G and the Hawks still want 11 on top of their 4 home games in Tassie.
