Tigers yet to decide PSD direction

Richmond coach Terry Wallace is reluctant to reveal whether the Tigers will opt for youth or experience in the upcoming pre-season draft, preferring to declare that the club will choose the best player available with its single selection.

Kingsley is the highest profile player of that group, but according to Wallace, neither he nor the others have been made any promises.

"We won’t bring them in unless we're considering them, but that won’t give him any more right of way than anyone else that's in a delisted position at this point in time," Wallace said.

"We're not in a hurry to make the decision. Obviously we're monitoring players that are training at other clubs as well.

"If someone jumps out and is a standout, we're in this for the long-term regardless and we'll pick what we believe is the best player for the Richmond Football Club."

6 undrafted youngsters training with us

From the Age:

Wallace is set to add one more player to the Tigers' senior list in the December 12 pre-season draft, but is uncertain whether he will go for youth or experience.

The Tigers drafted three forwards among the five youngsters claimed in last weekend's national draft, lessening the prospects for ex-Geelong forward Kent Kingsley to be picked up.

Richmond sprung a surprise last year by taking youngster Matthew White in the pre-season draft - a move Wallace is considering again this year.

The Tigers have brought in six undrafted youngsters to join Kingsley and perennial VFL goalkicker James Podsiadly, who are also training with the Tigers in the hope of being drafted.

"We don't bring them in unless we're considering them," Wallace said.

"Last year we brought in Matt White ... and he shone over that two-week period and we said we can't afford to lose him, so we ended up drafting him in the main draft."

The Hawks have put a limit of 23 years of age on their PSD recruit so they won't be after Kingsley.

Does anyone know who the 6th youngster is?

Dean Limbach
Nick Carnell, Coburg;
Shaun Huy, Coburg;
Jake King, Coburg;
Sam Robertson, Coburg;
?

I think Tas Clingan was only down for last week. Rumours on BF have it that Batsanis is training with us but the AFL site apparently has him training with the Hawks. Also heard that Zac Millar is now down at RFC training ???

Richmond –
Zac Hier, Woodville West Torrens;
Shaun Huy, Coburg;
Jake King, Coburg;
Kent Kingsley, Geelong;
Dean Limbach, Richmond

Just did some reading on Zac Hier, 18,  190cm 88kg. Plays as a 3rd defender, according to reports, very composed, debuted this season for WWT. Good reports around the place and put some decent players out of business in games. Hes the smoky, but hes a chance- stats remind me of Thursfield. So who knows- anyone else have any more.

Just one person's opinion but this was on a AFL site blog about Zac Hier:

get this bloke first one of the best yound defenders I have seen for a long time. Zac Hier (WWT)unbeaten against top forwards in the games he played this year. He has everything but needs to improve on his kicking, as tuff as they come.

No Podsiadly in that list either. Looks like drafting Riewoldt has put Pods out of our plans.

The Age had 6 young guys apart from Kingsley training with us so if they are right then there are two  others ???

Ramps you remind me of a Greek kid I went to school with. He could rattle off every VFL player at the time who was Greek.

The Roos have delisted Tim Hutchison so they can participate in the PSD. So we drop back to pick 6.

1. Carlton (Cain Ackland)
2. Essendon (Mal Michael)
3. Kangaroos
4. Port Adelaide
5. Hawthorn
6. Richmond

A West Aussie poster on BF mentioned that the Tiges are one of 5 clubs showing interest in Dan Chartres (20 y.o., 194cm, utility/key defender) from Peel Thunder.
