Player review 12. Richo
« on: October 30, 2006, 03:42:25 AM »
45.40 from 18 games for Richo and his 11th year as the club's leading goalkicker equalling Jack Titus' record. Broke his wrist against Geelong and missed the next 4 weeks. It then took him another month to find his old touch so he didn't hit form again until the season was virtually over.

How did we rate Richo's 2006 and as a 32 year old next year where and how will Plough play him next year?

Once he got over his wrist injury, Richo came back stronger than he was the previous 16 rounds.  26 goals from rounds 17-22, including 9 against the Bummers.  He is still a worry for opposition coaches so there's life in the old boy yet.

Richo has turned around his on-field demeanour big time under Terry. Very much the team player now and his workrate defensively has improved out of sight. His goalkicking is still as hit and miss as ever (that's our Richo lol) but nothing is going to change that now. He probably shouldn't have come back so early after the wrist injury. Even though we were told there was no risk of further injury, he wasn't right to play.

Hopefully he'll have his little partner in crime next to him in 2007 and back at 100%. I still see Richo being that roaming key forward for us. Nothing as yet suggests he has slowed down and needs to be planted in the goalsquare.

Richo showed some better signs this year with his chasing , tackling, etc. He still will never be a good kick for goal and I have no idea why TW had him teaching Goalkicking at the "TAFE". He is a star that can win a game but I am probably in the minority that says he can loose us games too.  He should never be allowed in the back half as he is a turnover machine back there.

I will put it down (and duck for cover) but I don't think he should have been given a two year extension. One would have done as we have a number of players that will have to come on as Target forwards and they just won't get the chance with Richo there. One thing I beleive we can say for sure is that he is a Tiger for life. He would have signed for 1 year and then 1 more if we needed him.

He is the Tiger for me that I love and hate the most and it has been that way (for me ) for many years. I supose that having players like him brings out all the emotions and passion that a Tiger lover goes through. Not sure if thats a good thing or not though.

Great year in the leadership department from Richo - despite the media not wanting to mention it ::)

Thought his last few games were as good as he's been - disappointing that he broke his wrist against the Cats.

Like MT I am looking forward to the dynamic duo being back in action in 2007.

Also looking to him returning to being the AFL's number 1 in contested marks

Can he win a Jack Dyer Medal in 2007? Yeah he can ;D

Tick Tock,

Time is running out for Richo to play in a final series and have any impact.

IMO Richo cannot be considered an AFL Hall of Famer until he has a final series worthy of his talent.

Until then, he will remain a true RFC goalkicking champion.

another season of what we have come to expect from Richo  wears his heart on his sleeve and sometimes his boot in his mouth
hot and cold    some great games and goals and some shockers as well
could of done without the break to the arm but thats footy if only we could get him on the field for 22+ rounds
stood tall as part of the leadership group and certainly looked up to by some of the younger talent who are looking to fill his boots
as yet there is no one close to being our next "richo" so 07 again our leading goal kicker  a great addition to the "Dream Team"

Richo is the ultimate confidence player. If he kicks a goal with one of his first two shots he's usually on song for a great game. One the other hand if he misses his first two shots he'll end up with something like six behinds and be lucky to kick more than one goal.
