Player review: 43. Cam Howat
« on: November 23, 2006, 04:12:17 AM »
Next up is Howat.

Cam crossed over with Andy Collins from Box Hill and was picked up as our third rookie listed player for 2006. After 14 games at Coburg, Howat was promoted off the rookie list after Cogs did his knee and made his AFL debut in round 18, playing the last 5 games and averaging 18 disposals and 5 marks.

How did we rate Cam's first year and is he unlucky not to be promoted onto our senior list for 2007?

Howat's 2006 AFL stats

Round         Date         vs.           K H  P M HO T FF FA G B
Round 18 05/08/2006 Bulldogs      17 5 22 5 0 2 1 2 1 0
Round 19 12/08/2006 Brisbane     15 4 19 8 0 1 0 0 1 1

Not so sure that its a disgrace Jacko, it gives the club the opportunity to look at another player and maybe draft them.

Howat is already ours and we know what he can do, and as we know there is a fair chance that someone will be out long term with an injury. I am not wishing it on anyone but its the rule of averages.

If we have one or two pick in the PSD then we can weigh up whos available and i suppose make a decision on whether we should draft them or promote Howat.

I am sure that we can draft one less and just promote him next year.

Don't think it's a disgrace Jack but agree it's very puzzling indeed. I thought he showed enough to be kep on the senior list or more to the point he showed a bit more than some that remain on the senior list

There's still a big question mark on Howat's one-sidedness. Not that has stopped others remaining on our senior list  ;). Can he still be promoted if we wish after Saturday's draft?

It's about time we had more luck with injuries. How many broken bones have we cop in the past couple of years?!  :-\

Bingo, how many one-sided left footers do the Tigers need ?  Surely 2 or 3 of Joel B, Newman, Tivva & Hyde have to be cleaned out before Cam is promoted.

IMO he deserves a spot on the list before Hyde & Tivva, however these guys have contracts - Cam does not.

Cam will play cos of Cogs' injury, so lets see if he can play at a consitent level without slipping under a radar.

A disgrace...

what!!!! thats a ridiculous statement! your a...

....he hasnt been promoted on to the senior list...

cool guy JACKSTAR  ;D

now seriously, i hope they keep him on the rookie list and get him in at first drop. Doing things like this allow us to pick up an extra youngun in a strong draft while still keepin howat availiable when the inevitiable happens.

win win if you ask me.
