The pre-season is flying along and, with the exception of one senior list position and a couple of rookie spots, we basically have our playing squad set up for the 2007 AFL season.

In regards to the PSD:-
"we will work towards whatever we believe is the best possible selection for the Club."

In regards to the National draft and why we didn't pick up more KPPs
"Of course, as a group, we keep a close eye on list management and development for the future. But we would be negligent if we took a speculative pick on a key-position player when a quality midfielder, who may have a 10-year career at the Club, is available."

It’s worth noting that West Coast won the premiership this year on the back of having the best midfield group in the competition.

Since my arrival at the Club, we have introduced Troy Simmonds, Trent Knobel, Adam Pattison, Will Thursfield, Cleve Hughes, Angus Graham, Graham Polak and now, Jack Riewoldt, all as potential ruckmen or key position players for the future.

In regards to the 15 NAB  Cup spots up for grabs:-
The leading player in the early weeks of the pre-season was a very determined Brett Deledio, who led the way until last week when his No. 1 mantle was taken off him by Nathan Foley, who has set a fine example in the early stages of the pre-season campaign. Others to be up the top of the ladder have been Cam Howat, who played some excellent football for us late last year and Shane Tuck, who looks lean, fit and ready for a big season.

It would be good for those that can watch training to give us others a good indication on who sits in the 15 currently.

So far we have a leaderboard of

1.  Foley
2.  Lids
3.  Howat
4.  Tuck
5.  Browny (have to throw him in by all reports)

Tucky wasn't that prominent yesterday in the game drills. Lids and Howat were solid to good and I've already talked about Foley going gangbusters. Foley and Howat are our best runners in the 200m runs while oldies Browny and Sugar received praise for their runs. Polak performed very well against Richo 1-on-1.

Best 15 at this stage from what I saw: Foley, Lids, Howat, Browny, Polak, Joel, Paddy, Polo, Sugar, Meyer, Jackson, Schulz, Tivs, White, Casserly.

The captain and future? captain in the top 2  :thumbsup. Sugar isn't the most popular captain with fans but this shows why he is captain. Leads by example.

Good to see guys like Meyer, Moore, Krak, Schulz and Polak in the top 20. The latter three not known for their fitness.

No Rainesy there either but that's due to his commitments with the Aussie IR team so he's behind the others.

The ones above were from last Friday so they're pretty close to current mark.
