Should we go all out to win the NAB Cup?

Should we go all out to win the NAB Cup this year as it's been 27 years since we've won any sort of silverware or should we just use the preseason games to tune ourselves for the real stuff?

No way - just use it to tune ourselves.  If we just happen to win the silver on the way - so be it  - but not imperative.  Rather over-rated really - look what happened to the Blues and the Cats after they won it.

NAB Cup is for playing the kids, experimenting with players in different positions
If we win on that basis I wouldn't say no.

some say its just the nab, who cares, well i do, we play to win, if its a game , and a score board, then u have 3 options, win lose or draw. win win win , at all cost. this injury thing is a load of crap.

Normally I don't care but this year considering the drought and the state of some grounds in regional areas - I'd be trying to stay in the NAB cup comp as long as possible

We will still have to travel win or lose. The 2nd round game is in Darwin if we beat the Cats. Even so if we can get past them at the Cattery then I think we're a good show this year. Thanks to Plough's top 15 points scheme a lot of our young guys will play anyway so going all out to win won't be at the expense of their development. Riewoldt is training well enough to play senior footy in the NAB Cup and it'll give rookies Howat and possibly King a few competitive AFL games.

From a club point of view, I don't mind if some more senior players are left out if they are not quite ready and some of the younger kids get a go.
So in that case I don't mind if from a club point of view they are looking at preparing for the season proper.

That said, I expect from the individual and the team selected on the day nothing less than to go all out - A winning culture is just that, and you MUST want and expect to win everything at all costs.
It doesn't matter what the comp is including intraclub - that's why I like to see sometimes the boys get shirty with each other it means the mental attitude is right

Thanks to Ploughs top 15 points, most of the young guys pushing hard at this stage of the season will be looking for an ""oxygen mask"" come round 14, otherwords they will be stuffed and we will probably fall in a hole from round 14/15 onwards, lets wait and see shall we.
