from today's Herald-SunMore than 92mm of rain fell in the Thomson catchment and further run-off is expected in coming days.
The falls boosted Melbourne's water supplies, which rose 0.1 per cent in a day to 39.9 per cent capacity.
Melbourne Water spokesman Ben Pratt said the rainfall was welcome for Melbourne's parks and gardens and the city's catchments.
"The catchments started to dry out a couple of weeks ago," he said.
"The falls in the Thomson catchment are the most since July and it is certainly welcome as we head towards summer."
He said Melbourne's dams were still 60 billion litres lower than this time last year.
