AFL Record predicts us to finish 9th
« on: February 21, 2007, 05:48:24 PM »
The AFL Record 2007 season preview and NAB Cup Record is out now in newsagents for $7.

9. Richmond

The Tigers  should once again be knocking down the door of the final eight as Terry Wallace enters his third year of his five-year term at Punt Rd.

As Wallace predicted in late 2004 when he took on the job, the improvement will be gradual and not sizeable. It's very much work-in-progress for Richmond, but Tiger fans would be happy with the progress they are seeing.

There is potential for plenty of goals via an attack led by Matthew Richardson. Kayne Pettifer, a fitter Nathan Brown and a proven forward in Kent Kingsley. Troy Simmonds is coming off a career-best season in the ruck and there is genuine excitement about Brett Deledio, Andrew Raines and Richard Tambling.

With their first five games at the MCG, the Tigers have the chance to set the early pace in the season and come home strongly with three of their last four games also at the 'G.

1. West Coast
2. Freo
3. Adelaide
4. Sydney
5. St Kilda
6. Bulldogs
7. Melbourne
8. Geelong
--------------
9. Richmond
10. Port
11. Collingwood
12. Hawthorn
13. Essendon
14. Brisbane
15. Roos
16. Carlton

Last year the AFL Record said we'd finish 14th.

I would not read too much into that. Every year a team comes from outside the top 8 and finishes the home and away season in the top 4.
Freo did that last year
Adelaide did that in 05 the Saints did that in 04.
Even we did that in 95 and 01.
I can't see Adel maintaining a top 4 spot and Geel making the 8 or
Sydney maintaining their top 2 status either. I honestly believe we
will squeeze ourselves somewhere between 5-8.

You're right HT74. Last year they had Geelong 3rd, Brisbane 6th, Freo 9th and Melbourne 12th.

At least they have us finishing ahead of the Pies, the Dons and the Blues - I'll take that  ;D

 :gotigers

Actually I don't see the Saints making the 8- too many sooks

Has to be questions marks over Geelong and Melbounre. The Demons need all their top guns on the paddock. I reckon Port is a show for the 8 and I reckon we will finish 7th  :pray :pray

The Saints could actually struggle a little, I read that they were learning the run and carry game, so they could go backwards a little bit. The Bulldogs have a lot of guys coming back from injury, so they could also struggle.

I think the Cats could get back in, depending on whether last year was just a 'bad year' or whether they have lost respect for the coach. If it's the latter, they could finish bottom.

I think the Dees will be ok, I expect Sylvia to finally come on, and McLean to continue his rise.

Especially with the latest news that Hamill's knee is stuffed and he is out indefinitely.

And to think Saint fans thought a flag was inevitable  :stupid.

lol  at that William Powell.
How can a club  with more wooden spoons than anyone and only 1 flag in their
sad and sorry 110 yr AFL existence believe such a thing with a crop of a few talented players. Dogs are following the same path also.

richmond when expected to knock on the finals door fail that year !

its when we are least expected to knock on the door we finish sort !

just hope that we aren't putting pressure on ourselves !

it's all talk now ...

and the season is 32 weeks long ...

its one week at a time i believe ...
